Former Employee - Applications Project Manager in Singapore (Singapore)

    Pros

The Management is dynamic, forward-looking and and innovative.
Being in the Enterprise Application Service Industry (Application Service Provider), the Company has always been in the forefront of developing applications for the Government sectors using latest technologies and platforms for the past 20 years.

    Cons

Based on the setup where different Application and Network teams are servicing the varied sectors/industries, we tend to work in silos, especially during Tender applications and projects.
There need to be some consolidation and sharing of resources, technical skills and expertises to benefit all teams, especially under the Technology Division.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Review the skills and competencies within the Organization at all levels (i.e. management, technical, developer, operational and support staff) to ensure greater sharing and exchange of technology expertise and knowledge.

    Pros

Stable company and good prospect if you have appetite for extreme office politics and bureaucracy. Most of the staff stay for a long time but some of these staff are not performer and a stumbling block.

    Cons

Some senior managers still runs their department with outdated bureaucratic style. There is no genuine collaboration, each to his own. The culture is hard to stomach for younger work force.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Pros

Free loaders are able to leech on the others who are putting in effort for delivery months after months. A place for people who has no ambition to stay.

    Cons

Project Management is non-existence. All managers are more interested in playing their own political game to gain more turf rather than let the project progress. All talkers no workers.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Do enforce your authority on people whom are not performing rather then allowing them to be around and cause team morale to drop.
