Pros
Benefits were solid, my group was very accomidating for taking time off. Some maanagers did a very good job teaching skills that translated across job functions and explaining the impact of decisions and how it effected financial reporting/ what ever you were working on.
Cons
Lack of work. Market for services below up, my office was over staffed and they were losing clients. Things might have been diferent if the market was huming alond. Some managers were not good a managing or working with others.
Advice to Senior Management
Focus on utiliazation rates, staff development and giving managers incentive to develop staff. The mix between staff and managers seems to be off in a lot of offices.
Pros
People are generally friendly. I have good team members. My office is close to my home. It is a top 10 CPA firm in the nation, and therefore, we have more resources than small firms.
Cons
Employees are not compensated by their performance; instead, their compensations are more tied to the years of servicing the company.
Advice to Senior Management
The management is doing good at being fair to everyone. However, it is also important to compensate people who perform well.
Pros
- Very generous PTO policy. 4-7 weeks per year depending on years of service
- Flexibility with scheduling work start and end times and working from home
- Transparent communication from from firm leadership at the C level
Cons
- Continually adding new work without added capacity to complete it in a reasonable work schedule
- Excessive hours requirement
- Career advancement opportunities are non-existent despite significant praise and recognition, which in turn is meaningless when you can't get a promotion or a decent raise
- Unnecessarily complicated and inefficient processes
- "Team-building" activities that make you feel like you're back in first grade that create little value for professionals.
Advice to Senior Management
Lead the firm. Don't micromanage the day to day activities of those below you making a fraction of what you make. Increase accountability on all levels.
Pros
Regional firm with many opportunities to grow.
Firm is growing and is a great alternative to the big four.
Very competitive pay and benefits
Cons
Management not always willing to answer questions or show you what to do on the job.
Sometimes was a stressfuk work environment
Advice to Senior Management
Be open and willing to help everyone in the office. This will not only bring more value to your company but to your clients as well
Pros
Great benefits, great people, great culture for the most part. Great vacation package.
Cons
Trying to be like the big four while preaching we are the "alternative to the big four"
Advice to Senior Management
Try to recreate the Crowe culture with the Crowe values instead of standing in the shadows of the big four
Pros
- Great benefits
- Good work/life balance under Crowe Chizek senior management
- Worked with great people at the same level
- Good management within my group
Cons
- Very low pay, no raise or bonus in over 2 years
- poor 401k match
- Horrible work/life balance under the Crowe Horwath senior management
- unreal hours expectations
- "duel competency" = 2 or 3 busy seasons a year. No longer just January - April.
- expect people to complete more work for less pay
- give new hires a bonus for passing the CPA exam, but existing employees do not receive anything, not even a raise.
- Show favoritism to Women for promotions, workload and work/life balance
Advice to Senior Management
Open your ears and listen to your employees. Look at how many people have left the firm since the new CEO was elected vs. the old CEO and I'm sure you will notice a large increase. Stop trying to turn Crowe into the Big Four. Go back to your core vaules and put your clients and employees first not the amount of money you can line your pockets with.
Pros
-Great PTO program and benefits (let's face it, at least they're offering it)
-Numerous good people to work with
-Decent layout of company overall
Cons
-As mentioned in other reviews; unless your kissing the floor the partners walk on, you won't be recognized
-Hard work does not payoff.
-Replying to previous reviews of higher authority: Maybe if things were not thrown at staff to complete, higher moral would exist! If you're looking for someone to work 9am-10pm January thru December, then hire a bum.
-People constatly leaving which means leaving a ton of work for others to do. They may hire one person to replace the five that left.
Advice to Senior Management
-Abolish the annual plan BS. It doesn't even pertain to half the firm.
-Follow through with what is said. If you request employee's to complete a "People engagement survey" to see what they think of the firm, follow up on it.
Pros
Good group management. No one gets ahead at the expense of others, you make it on your own merits.
Cons
The travel can be challenging at times but the Road Warrior program helps quite a bit.
Advice to Senior Management
Employees need to know their concerns are being heard.
Pros
Great people
Opportunities to do other things within the firm
When needed, time off can be taken
Cons
Limited opportunities for career growth
Too many people have left, so current work has shifted to current employees
Horrible work-life balance
No easy plan for career advancement
Severely underpaid
Advice to Senior Management
Pay your employees
Provide opportunities for employees to grow
Pros
Career opportunity, exposure, flexibility, technology focus, and local leadership.
Cons
Workload, national leadership, and bonus structure.
Advice to Senior Management
Focus on and appreciate growth of the entire firm, not just "key" markets.
