Pros
As a merchandiser the ability to work independently is the most valuable part of the job.
Cons
Growth in the company is very poor
Advice to Senior Management
More Communication, More Money, More Appreciation for Employees
Pros
Beautiful location, friendly personnel and great benefits.
Cons
Lack of communication about the expectations of your job role... no, make that NO communication. Upper management expects you to work 50-60 hours/week like they do but for less pay. "Quick to hire and quick to fire" is a philosophy this company employs, so BEWARE.
Advice to Senior Management
Be patient and clearly communicate the expectations of new employees. Don't just ASSume they know how you operate. Also, two week's worth of training is not enough time to assess a new hire.
Pros
schedule ( mon. through fri.)
easy work
you get to work independently
you get off early which allows you to do other things
Cons
it's a pretty physical job
hardly any opportunity to move up unless you move
dealing with customers and some store managers
Advice to Senior Management
Spend a day as a merchandiser before you decide to add more projects. Also, when someone takes a day off, don't penalize them by making them have to do double the work when they come back.
Pros
Good schedule, requires no mental ability, monday-friday, management doesn't care about you there for they don't bother you. overtime during hurricanes.
Cons
No advancement, no one covers your stores when sick or taking vacation even if you give a couple months notice, many extra projects on top of regular work load with no help or extra time to complete, lack of communication between corporate and merchandisers, service support never answers calls or follows up on IT issues.
Advice to Senior Management
Go work a couple stores to see exactly what you have the merchandisers doing. Take better care of your employees. Make sure stores are covered when employees request off.
Pros
You work day starts at 6 a.m or earlier. You get weekends off.
Cons
Too much work for one person. No one to cover your stores when your ill. You end up working while your sick, because you don't want to get behind, and have to throw double orders or deal with stores angry if you miss a service. In order to perform your job responsibilities you need to work at least 12 hours per day.
Advice to Senior Management
We need help! You can't expect us to fulfill our job requirements when so much work is being thrown at us.
Pros
Flex work day. Mon thru Fri
Cons
Area bosses are not competent. Do not stay on task. Also are busy running family businesses, using office expenses for personal use.
Advice to Senior Management
The people in the field are important, stop abusing them
Pros
great benefits and work hours are astounding. Management is not always looking over your shoulder.
Cons
Poor communication with merchandisers. the yearly raises are horrible
Advice to Senior Management
needs alot of improvement in the communication department. the yearly raises are horrible.
Pros
Great middle managemet. Great spirit among employees. Fast paced
Cons
Upper management too political. If you were friends with President or HR VP you moved up. If not you met constant roadblocks. President was very young, green and untested.
HR VP was personal favorite of Corporate VP that was removed due to curious curcumstances
Advice to Senior Management
Not much I can say here. They rarely listened unless you were in the inner circle.
Pros
Crown Bolt had a small company feeling to it. I had the chance to meet people in various departments outside my own. I had a good time getting to know these people better.
Cons
Some downsides was that it was a small company growing very rapidly. Many times there was't enough resources for all the teams.
Advice to Senior Management
My advice for management would hire more people, but also retain people who are able to contribute to the company.
