Pros
Benefits are paid 100% by employer for employee, Safety first, good people in company
Cons
not very proactive in some divisions, growth oppurtunities and promotion of personal growth available but not encouraged in some areas
Advice to Senior Management
Involve employees in more projects and activities, Corporate office should be have a culture of service to the plants and that the plants are their internal customers.
Pros
Location is great. Working atmosphere is fairly relaxed and conducive to working hard without excessive pressure. Management at the Holdings office really knows what they're doing.
Cons
Dealing with colleagues in different business units at offices in other countries / timezones can be a real drag when their English is not up to par. Colleagues in certain countries seem to make the same mistakes over and over again.
Advice to Senior Management
Holdings management is spectacular. Management in many of the individual business units off-site, however, appears to be sorely lacking. In non-holdings offices, it seems like the workplace atmosphere is almost hostile towards employees.
Pros
Pay is good and benefits are better than most
Management is trying to catch up to the modern times - new improvements in communications, etc.
Improvements in goal setting and pay for performance
Cons
Very structure environment which does not allow much work/life balance.
Corporate employees are given better benefits and opportunties for advancement than the outreach plants.
Advice to Senior Management
A culture change in which respect is given to the local/outreach plants which provide the income for the entire corporation.
Pros
An overall good place to work. A solid, reliable company with an established history and in an industry that is relatively resistant to recessions.
Cons
Recent history of downsizing / plant closures have created a sense of unease and distrust. A history of allowing poor manager to continue in their positions too long before applying corrective action.
Advice to Senior Management
Be more selective in filling key management positions. Minimize micro-management of plants while increasing monitoring of plant operations to ensure against problems getting out of hand.
