    Pros

    Well known and well liked in the industry.

    Cons

    Technology is weak; leadership is practically non-existent. Resistance to change is rampant. Content with high defect levels is way too high.

    Advice to Management

    Have a sense of urgency about improving things. Set an example of hard work and honesty. Bob Bickert knew the industry and how to make a good company great. The new leadership is just a puppet.

    Pros

    Great insurance benefits, profit sharing plan is nice. Many employees are great and have huge potential, but nowhere to move up. Located on Alabama gulf coast, close to beaches.

    Cons

    Management. That's what it all comes down to. The management is extremely two-faced, they will use you for your hard work and dedication, but them are quick to throw you under the bus or get rid of you. It's a very boys-club mentality, and if you don't get in tight with them, you might as well forget about ever growing and advancing in the company. The reward system is also weak. The raises are infrequent and a fraction of what is deserved. Employees have zero motivation or incentive to do a great job versus a mediocre job, since your compensation literally is the same either way.
    Company is always trying to get employees to come up with ways for the company to make more money and grow, but that added profitability and cash flow does not trickle down to the employees.

    Advice to Management

    Do more than pretend like you care. Actually listen to your employees. Treat them with respect and reward them accordingly. The turnover rate is high, and if you treat everyone like they're disposable, don't expect loyalty. Treat people better, they will make you more money.

    Pros

    The people are great, and that's about it. The regular hourly employees are great, but the management do not communicate with each other.

    Cons

    Low pay , long hours and employees are treated like slaves. Raises are a joke. When an employee gets the best possible evaluation and only gets an $0.18 raise that is criminal.

    Advice to Management

    Replace all upper management and you might have a chance. I do not see how a company that is run this badly is still in operation.

    Pros

    Employees are easy to work with. Ebsco benefit package is good. Company is growing and gaining industry recognition.

    Cons

    Upper management lacks vision and does not support employees. Much like working in a piranha tank. Gossip is encouraged. Much of "old Crown" is still in place at the higher ranks, preventing any positive progress and they manage to weed out anyone making positive changes within the company or anyone that disagrees with them. Rarely promotes from within, preferring to bring in fresh blood then berate them until they leave on their own volition.

    Advice to Management

    Get rid of anyone who has been with the company for more than five years. Clean house. Get rid of the negative personalities that are slowing progress.

    Pros

    Owned by Ebsco Industries, which offered a fair benefits package.

    Cons

    Incompetent senior management
    Infighting between management and employees
    Emotionally and verbally abusive practices within upper management
    Upper management routinely gossips about employees - including employee appearance, personal lives, medical issues, etc.
    Advancement based on politics, not achievement
    Revolving door in key positions including sales management, customer service, purchasing, marketing and finance.
    No work / life balance - live and die by the timeclock
    This is by far the worst company I have ever worked for in 20+ years

    Advice to Management

    Ebsco should replace all the senior staff members, stat. They are a cancer that is sucking the life out of the company. Many many good, hardworking people have left or been forced out due to the insane "management" habits practiced by the "staff." Ebsco needs to get into damage-repair mode to salvage what is left of the company..

    Pros

    Beautiful city with great weather and close to beaches.
    Great industry (Promotional Products Supplier)
    Very hard working and dedicated people in the rank and file.

    Cons

    Very little life/work balance. Top management expects you to be put in long hours even though they do not.
    Low pay compared to the industry.

    Advice to Management

    You really need to take a hard look at the very top level management.

    Pros

    The people were fun to work with. If you like to work in a fast-paced environment then this is the place for you. They offer great benefits.

    Cons

    There is no room for advancement except for certain people that are shown favoritism. You will work your but off and won't be recognized for it.
