    Pros

Fun working atmosphere it was one of the best places I have ever worked in my life very satisfying too

    Cons

Can't think of anything other than maybe changing the name of the company as it is very strange name indeed

    Advice to Management

Maybe an idea would be to spend more time letting employees know where they stand with regards to career advancement chances

I have been working at Crump Life Insurance Services full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Great coworkers and supervisors. Benefits are fairly decent (health is fantastic but dental isn't nearly as comprehensive). Plenty of carrier-presented benefits: paid lunch, trips, and various incentives. Again, coworkers and bosses are great to work with.

    Cons

Hmm...I struggled between providing 2 or 3 stars but ultimately settled on 2. The reason: the difference between what Crump was when it was owned by J.C. Flowers and who they are now as a subsidiary of BB&T. Within a year of the acquisition (made official on 4/2/12), you could feel the parent company's corporate influence. Pay was not comparable to the workload (which clearly doubled in 2 year's time) and amount of annual revenue generated per account/department (Which was obscene, by the way. The life insurance industry is approximately a $30 trillion-a-year industry; you can't pay your employees just a LITTLE bit more?) With the aforementioned increased workload, positions that require inbound calls as one of their many responsibilities became glorified customer service reps. There is a bottleneck for career advancement: assuming you were considered for a promotion (which isn't always the case), it could take years for it to happen (when a wholesaler resigned, instead of providing one of their sales associates with the job he obviously deserved, they added on the responsibilities of the wholesaler with the pay of a sales associate). I've seen the company literally go back on their sales incentives when multiple associates hit their numbers. Crump used to be about loyalty to their employees. Unfortunately, that is no longer the case.

    Advice to Management

Simply put, the corporate philosophy of "maximizing profit by minimizing costs" seems to always end with companies screwing over their employees. Pay your employees what they are worth, and they'll provide you with a good, solid business. The few companies that do this always seem to flourish (in the long run). The ironic thing was that the notion of "taking care of your employees who will in turn provide great business" was actually in Crump's motto prior to the BB&T acquisition. How things change...

    Pros

Pay is decent for a single person.

    Cons

I've had 1 position and cycled through 5 managers in 4 years. The turnover rate is atrocious, not just for managers. It's definitely do more with less company and it takes its toll on the employees that do stay.

I worked at Crump Life Insurance Services full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Great people to work with. Benefits are good. Good amount of PTO time. Nice facilities to work in. Good communication from upper management.

    Cons

Company is bought and sold too much. Quite a few managers are given manager positions because they are friends with upper management. Those managers are terrible to work with as they don't know how to manage people. Some platforms are nice to work in others are not. If you work from home or in another office you are often isolated and not given the proper mentors or help you may need. Several managers do not know how to manage people who telecommute. They don't understand how to support them and help them grow.

    Advice to Management

Make sure managers have the skills and education needed before you promote them. Recognize people who work hard every day. Spot bonuses were a great way to reward employees. Please actually read the employee satisfaction surveys. It would be nice to actually see management take the time and try to correct the major issues on the surveys. The big conference calls everyone gets on quarterly are a waste of time. Most of the info given would be better if it were just emailed. The conference call needs to be 30 min or less with only the most important info given.
