    Pros

The work is very autonomous. You have a chance to be very flexible with your schedule. The management is great and fun and will talk to you very often about everything from work to your weekend.

    Cons

It can be extremely repetitious. The work makes you feel like you are always behind. The lines of communication and very decentralized and your work depends on one system and e-mail. It goes down often and work stops.

    Advice to Management

They really need to move to all recruiters in home office.

    Pros

Progressive Pay - The more hours you work, the more pay raises you get.
Benefits - Health benefits and 401k
Promotion opportunities - Cub promotes from within, so after you gain some seniority, you can work your way up

    Cons

Progressive Pay - Can be unfair if you work harder than another guy who is getting paid more simply because he has worked there longer.
Stressful at times - Working in a department at Cub can be demanding as they are usually understaffed

    Advice to Management

Reward hard work and be more willing to help departments when they are understaffed.

    Pros

Flexible hours. great coworkers. department heads and store level management very good. decent pay.

    Cons

Very, very very few opportunities for promotions. Each store is given a certain amount of full time employees that they are allowed to have, so it is a slim chance that you will get full time status.

    Advice to Management

When you say you will offer training to someone, FOLLOW THROUGH. Don't hire staff specifically to do a job that should be earned and not given. Acknowledge the fact that your staff consists of people who have varying abilities and try to help them advance in the company. STOP UNDER-STAFFING YOUR STORES.

  8. Better than Roundys

I have been working at Cub Foods part-time (more than a year)

    Pros

I worked at one the Rainbow Foods that was recently bought out by Cub Foods. Roundy's was good to neither it's employees nor its customers. Many customers blindly loved Rainbow without seeing that they were offering more products at a higher price and not offering incentives. Cub Foods has reinstated the fuel perks program, offered all Rainbow employees their jobs (at the same rate), and offers us incentives as well including employee discounts. They seem to value us and treat us fairly as long as we do the same for them.

    Cons

New healthcare regulations make keeping union healthcare more difficult. Terrible turnover due to the recent buyout.

  9. Senior leadership lacks accountability and integrity

    Pros

Good store level team work. Union environment with guaranteed wages and benefits. Good part time job once you put a few years in.

    Cons

Continually told to accomplish more with less resources and support. DO NOT accept a managerial role here. Mostly out of touch with what the customers truly want. Every 2-4 years the parent company Supervalu gets new leadership and tries to reinvent the company. This cycle burns bridges with the customers versus building relationships with them. It's a different shopping experience with every leadership change.

    Advice to Management

Hurry and finish your cycle with the company and move on. Your plan for success isn't working
