    Pros

union, decent pay raises, works well with availbitlites

    Cons

union, they hire anyone, rare full time opportunities

    Advice to Management

Offer full time to employees who have been with the company for years and that clearly love what they do, instead of them turning to competitors for full time

    Pros

Most of the people I work with are awesome; I've become friends with almost all of the front end people!
    It's easy to learn

    Cons

.Really hard to get shifts covered
.REALLY bad hours- I dont even work the minimum hours I asked for even though we are understaffed
    .rude front-end manager
.Cub values customers way more than the employees
    .Extremely boring
.Cashiers deal with way too much and work extremely hard with rude customers for being the lowest paid department
.Schedules are put out on Friday for the next week. So I only know 3 days in advance if I work Sunday or not

    Advice to Management

Make your front end employees feel valued and give them a raise. Especially when we deal with all the customers that other employees or situations make angry. Also, make schedules available online or at least a week out in advance.

    Pros

Union health benefits and wage helped raise and support my family of 7. Promotions to management positions were attainable with hard work. Great people to work with.

    Cons

Last 3-5 years, it has not been good. Constant pressure from corp management, union backing off benefits for part time employees. Heavy workload and no appreciation.

    Advice to Management

Bring back qualified HR managers to hire instead of computer hiring.speed up hiring process and streamline 30 day reviewing process to get and keep qualified employees. Find a solution to healthcare for part-time employees or you're no better than Walmart.

    Pros

Using creativity & making customers happy with specialty cakes.

    Cons

Management and having no support staff to keep products on shelves, having to do multiple jobs that take away from your core responsibilities that are for other people but you are made to do them.

    Advice to Management

    Hire more help.

    Pros

Flexible scheduling, opportunities for growth, discounts on Cub Foods products

    Cons

Sometimes have scheduling conflicts, high turnover rate

    Advice to Management

Show that your employees mean more than just earners, give them more than just 20% off on all shopping at Cub Foods (as in, give bonuses to employees NOT management).

    Pros

Flexible scheduling, and you can use seniority to your advantage. Every 500 or so hours you get an automatic raise till you reach the cap, so it's not hard to reach it as long as you work the hours. When I was there the cap was $14, and I reached it within 2 years I think. Also, if you're really lucky (timing), and really good, you could move up pretty fast, as long as you can impress the managers. There are so many locations that transferring is easy too.

    Cons

In my personal experience, you had to kiss a lot of butt to get what you want. There are a few good managers who you could rely, but some of them were so moody, you'd see it reflected in your schedule. The front end manager I worked under couldn't even stay on top of fixing worker's hours for payroll, so when you would tell her about it, it would takes weeks or months for it to be corrected.

    Advice to Management

Though it is important to keep the customers happy, I think it's equally important to make the workers under you happy as well.

    Pros

Cub provides a flexible schedule, excellent job while raising a family. Medical benefits, vacation and personal time are generous, and I enjoyed many of my coworkers.

    Cons

I worked for Corporate Cub, so I can't speak for the franchise stores.

Labor crunch is ridiculous. Hard to service the customer on any level because everyone including managers are ringing on registers.

    Advice to Management

Create your brand and stick with it. You are no longer the low price leader, you provide poor customer service, cutting out variety- so what have you become? A has been.
