Pros
Great opportunity to advance in the company, flexible work hours, family oriented place to work, decent salary, and a very diverse work group
Cons
The benefits could be better, some time you may get past for a position if you are not a favorite of upper management. The company does force ranking to identify poor performance. This is often referred to as force ranking
Advice to Senior Management
Overall cummins is a great place to work but the force ranking practices should be reevaluated to ensure quality is not compromised.
Pros
-Great career movement and advancement,
-Great place to work as there is a lot of emphasis on diversity & inclusion
-Great orientation program for new hires into the business
-Upper management and middle managers are competent and strategic thinkers
-Innovative company
-Performance Driven and Team oriented culture
Cons
-Lean organization so there is a lot of work to do, however being so lean drives an increase of responsibilities at work.
Advice to Senior Management
none

Advice to Senior Management
Good job
Pros
Can be a global experience depending on role.
Most seem to be paid according to role.
Good opportunities for engineers
Cons
Reviews are infrequent - think that you are doing ok and 6 months later you find out otherwise.
First impressions can be impossible to overcome.
Promotions are not always based on performance.
"Preferred" employees find it easy to change roles.
Manager must help when changing roles - if the manager is no help then there will be no changing.
Pros
It is a very easy-going environment, and the management here is great. The pay is decent and there are many discounts given to employees for numerous things.
Cons
The pay could be better, and bigger bonuses would be nice too. Other than that it really doesn't have much downside
Pros
I love the committment to diversity - everyone counts!
Great about flexible schedules where they can be.
Fair policies and procedures - concerned about employee well-being.
Good communication most of the time.
Cons
Very demanding - performance expectations are very high.
Change takes forever because the Company's size, locations and divisions.
Additional vacation allowances would be nice, especially in first years of employment!
Pros
Diversty is respected and encouraged
Point of views and Opinions are all considered and used
Work life balance is very well maintained
Family life is encouraged
Really seek to match Career goals and personal growth
Cons
For those who like a career structure (i.e. from job 1, you move to job 2 after x years and than job 3, etc) it can be difficult to adapt in the company. The company let everybody decide which path he/she wants to take to reach his/her professional goals.
The perfomance review system needs to be improved to give power AND visibility to the performer and not the reviewer.
Advice to Senior Management
Continue what you are doing: growing by entrying into new markets, like Africa.
Improve the current performance review system. If I understand that it's difficult to satisfy all the employees' concerns, I still think that the current system doesn't give much visibility/power to the performer: which is certainly not what you are looking for.
Pros
Cummins has some very talented, hard working, capable people who are dedicated to the Company
For some fortunate employees recognition and career advancement are possible
Cons
Management are unable, unwilling or afraid to make decisions. Rather than taking a stand in support of a well researched and sound position, and move it forward, more questions are asked, more data is requested and the decisions are never made timely.
Managers have little to no people or management skills, and senior leaders don't seem to care that the employees are disgruntled, overworked, and frustrated with lack of leadership.
Advice to Senior Management
The Company is doing extremely well financially, but it seems to have lost sight of importance of showing the human assets their work is appreciated and have made it possible for the company to be in this enviable position. Those who are recognized and generously rewarded are those who get facetime. They rarely if ever recognize their own employees who did the work that got the managers the kudos and rewards.
My advice is to require the rewarded manager to share in the recognition, and just say 'thank you'.
Pros
Cummins is a diverse company with many growth opportunities. They have many opportunities to move around and find a position that you are best suited for.
Cons
The "Great Place to Work" slogan is highly dependant on your manager. You might have to move around a few times to find it.
Pros
Cummins offers Career advancing opportunities.
The salary you get for that location is excellent.
Cummins focuses a lot on employee education & empowerment
Cons
Cummins HQ Location might be unattractive for some, but if you are ready to commute 30-50 min, you can live in Indy or Bloomington, great places.
Advice to Senior Management
Cummins has all the right HR systems in place. Still there is a scope for work culture improvement.
The work speed is slow and can definitely be improved.
