I have been working at Cummins full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

Comapny is generally great with employee development, work life balance, and culture. Cummins is a leader in the disel market, that it's easy to take pride in your work.

    Cons

Benefits are lacking behind competing companies. The diversity aspect is a little much too. The promotion rates derived from reverse-discrimination are hurting more employees than helping.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Forget race and gender when it comes to promotions. Promote person with best work ethic, leadership, and skills

    Pros

There are plenty of opportunities for advancement if you are working with the correct manager.

    Cons

Current Employee - Supply Chain Specialist - CC02 in Memphis, TN

I have been working at Cummins full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

Flexibility, Community Involvement, Great pay, they promote learning/knowledge/growth

    Cons

Some Managers stay too long. Growth can be difficult if you stay in one area too long. Some areas can be viewed as "click-ish"; tick the wrong person off...and they will be in for you forever.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Clean house in your mid-level mgmt. areas every now and then. You'll find that some mgrs. stifle their employees instead of help to build them. Because people tend to stay in one area for years...there is little to no growth for the driven few.

I have been working at Cummins full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

    Good life-work balance
Potential to work anywhere in the world
Very open to discuss career with upper management

    Cons

Mid-low salaries. Mid-low bonus. HR does not properly communicate salary levels and salary rules are not always followed when employees change jobs inside of the company.
System to prevent unethical behavior and to prevent discrimination does not work well. Some employees simply do not use the confidential hotline and others do not sincerely respond investigations because most people are afraid to be punished by infractor once nothing happens with investigation.

    I worked at Cummins

    Pros

Diversity in the workforce which fostered a good integration for the employees. It was nice to see different cultures in action.

    Cons

Moved customer service operations to Nashville and there were not many options for the remaining employees to transfer to other areas.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

More opportunities should have been available for the employees that could not transfer to Nasville when the csr division was moved.
