There is a lot of support at the Headquarters for staff who are in the field (campuses).

I have been working at Cuny Research Foundation full-time (more than 10 years)

    Pros

The fringe benefits are great - ample annual and sick leave, best health insurance options, and generous retirement plans.

    Cons

Sometimes reimbursements take multiple months to process.

I worked at Cuny Research Foundation as an intern (less than a year)

    Pros

Benefits for the interns are good, at lease I am satisfied with the hourly salary.

    Cons

This depends who is your "boss". To me, My boss is kind of strict and mad sometimes, but I learned a lot from him and the whole team.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

CUNY RF, they are cool, everything related to the documentation and application, they are arranged for you. No such advices for them currently.

I have been working at Cuny Research Foundation part-time (less than a year)

    Pros

It is a very easy and fun job. I work with kids after school, mainly at risk youth. We assist with homework and studying and then they get to have fun. This program provides free lunch and snacks plus many beneficial classes such as computers, dance, etc.

    Cons

There is no room for growth and very little hours. it is an afterschool program so it only runs from 3 pm- 6 pm. There are other programs but my boss doesnt do split scheduling. Basically, I only work 11 hours a week because i have classes on some days and it prevents me from working. Also, being that the job is in the middle of the day it is hard to find another job.

I have been working at Cuny Research Foundation

    Pros

The paperwork was not long and redundant. Everything is straight forward. They send you to training for free. I love the ability to be creative with the kids I teach. All of my supervisors and bosses are kind, and easy-going, but also knows when to be tough.

    Cons

The parents are sometimes ignorant and believe they are always right. The kids are at times difficult to handle.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Have indepth conversations with the staff before you hire them.

I worked at Cuny Research Foundation full-time (more than a year)

    Pros

My director gave me a great deal of freedom to implement new, evidence-based practices intended to provide robust academic support to our program population of first-generation, low-income students and students with disabilities. I learned a great deal and developed many rewarding relationships with staff, students, and faculty. I was treated with a great deal of respect and given autonomy to make decisions regarding staffing, resource allocation, and programming -- all of which were key areas of importance to me.

    Cons

Nothing material. I was encouraged to develop my skills and given many opportunities for professional development.
