Pros
Good Employer and Environment and Culture
Cons
Need good leadership and management
Advice to Senior Management
Improve the policies and facilities
Pros
By far, the best reason to work at Current is the people. It's a great bunch of highly creative, motivated people who will do great things. Working for Mr. Gore isn't half bad either! The office space and location are really nice, and there's a kitchen with free food/drinks. It's a great place to start your career, as there is lots of opportunity to do things outside of your job title.
Cons
1. The pay is not competitive for most positions.
2. Too many changes in direction, leaves most feeling stressed and life a bit hectic.
3. No performance based reviews and bonuses.
Advice to Senior Management
Slow down and take a breath.
Pros
You get to meet Al Gore.
Cons
Firedrills, firedrills, firedrills. Get it done yesterday.
Advice to Senior Management
Reward people in the company besides yourselves, and perhaps solicit their feedback from time to time.
Pros
Current offers a highly invigorating and inspiring corporate culture. Employees are constantly asked to take on tasks not technically within their job descriptions, which results in extremely rapid resume building and skill-set development. Their IT infrastructure spoils you with the latest in phone/hardware/software available for anyone who asks.
Cons
While the frenetic pace at Current feels more like a start-up, the red tape and bureaucracy acts more like an established LA media conglomerate. It's difficult to execute ideas without involving slow-moving and understaffed operations team members who are too busy being angry about their low pay and high workloads to bother assisting with creative deliverables.
Advice to Senior Management
The operational infrastructure needs to be streamlined and expanded before more creative deliverables are planned and executed. Less nepotism - try getting rid of some of those lofty titles and heavy paychecks for people who do very little to further the mission of the company.
