Pros

It is collegial and there is a good relationship between the partners and associates. The work is interesting, when it is there. High profile clients, high profile complex work.

Cons

The work isn't always there, and when its not life sucks because you get zero experience. Then you get fired.

Advice to Senior Management

Either do away with the corporate department or don't, but make the decision and own it. Don't drag it out like a brain dead patient on life support. In the meantime, you shouldn't be recruiting in the corporate department and you should be brutally honest with the folks you have there, including partners. Also, you should force the lazy ass partners who don't bring in business, and don't care to, to leave.
