A highly mobile workplace with a lot of committed people

    Anonymous Employee (Former Employee)

ProsLots of room for growth if you're ambitious, engaged and genuinely interested in education at the core. Overall, the institution is very open to new ideas, new strategies for engaging students and, in general, to change.

    ConsToo much bureaucracy at times

Enjoyed Contract Work and Learned At the Same Time

    Contractor (Former Employee)
    Cleveland, OH

ProsTri-c does good things for the community. The administrator the contract reported to was great to work with. Loved the project and enjoyed learning more about the industry at the same time.

ConsNot much negative to say. I had almost no interaction with others at the college, which could have simplified a few items in the contract. However, the person I worked for was bright and may have only wanted ideas from an outsider.

Advice to Senior ManagementMarket rate for contractor work should be more competitive.

Not bad. Don't like the moratorium on hours for part-timers.

    Instructor (Current Employee)

    ProsFriendly, supportive co-workers. Flexibility.

ConsCan't advance easily. Would like to move from part-time to full-time, but few opportunities.

    Frustrating.

    Anonymous Employee (Current Employee)
    Cleveland, OH

ProsBenefits are decent - healthcare, tuition benefits, good leave accrual, and OPERS retirement...

ConsThe college does not operate as one entity, multiple campuses operate separately - makes it unnecessarily chaotic for students who attend more than 1 campus. The college invests more in its higher level execs than its own students. Many of these higher level execs don't even report to a campus where students are located, but to a District office completely away from students. The college also relies on an astounding number of grants, seemingly to avoid hard funding various programs that ultimately bring revenue.

Advice to Senior ManagementDo more to unify the same departments at multiple campuses. Hire more staff for counseling. Eliminate redundant programs, and find the money to hard fund those programs which ultimately support student program completion.
