I have been working at Cymer full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Cymer is working on some of the most advanced technology you will find anywhere. you will never have a problem with work being boring. Hard work and talent does not go overlooked.

    Cons

Semiconductor industry in general can be very demanding And cymer is definately not an exception to that. at times it can become a little overwhelming.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

There is a little to much management at the vp/director level. Could run a little more efficiently by consolidating some of these positions and bringing in more technical people.

    I worked at Cymer full-time

    Pros

Cutting edge technology, smart phones would not exist with out them. Pay was good, but atmosphere is not.

    Cons

They have a beat down mentality. Executive management loves to intimidate you with set up questions. Then they pull the thread and have no trepidation in trying to make you look like a fool despite your talents.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Get your egos out of the way and let the people get the job done. Delegate and step back.

I worked at Cymer full-time for more than 10 years

    Pros

They were great in the early days. Lots of golden handcuffs in the form of stock options. They were all cut out and then in came the Applied folks. Went down hill through the Pascal days.

    Cons

Now they are just another semi place with way to many mid and upper management.
They need to be spoon feed information instead of getting in there and working the issues. Spent more time doing weekly reports than working. They do not implement the best designs, only the ones that barely meet spec and change as little as possible. Their lasers could be much better if they wanted to do the engineering and let the engineers do the work. They waste a lot of material.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Get a clue, hire the best and get out of the way. Leave them to do the job and you go around to feed the info upstairs.

    I worked at Cymer

    Pros

It was a wonderful experience to work at Cymer. People are very friendly and smart. The environment is also excellent.

    Cons

It is a semiconductor company. If you are not an engineer, it is not easy to find a better way for promotion.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

I would say Research and Development is essential. However, people who supports the company are also important to the company's growth.

    I worked at Cymer

    Pros

Cutting edge technology, well-structured intern program, very involved projects, full involvement with a team, excellent balance of work and fun, ability to creatively implement your own ideas

    Cons

Red tape, busy and fast-paced work, lack of communication between divisions, older computer software or software licensing situations that inhibit productivity

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

The intern program at Cymer is very well-structured and I loved being a part of it. It would be excellent to see it continue to grow.

I have been working at Cymer

    Pros

The working peope, in manufacturing are human and a joy to worth with.

    Cons

Their mission statement includes: flawlessly. They are typical of what's wrong w/ corporate America.
Their employees are just commodities to be used and disposed of as necessary.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Hire your temps, they are just as important as the rest of the population.

I have been working at Cymer

    Pros

Newer facilities, secured parking, cafeteria, some nice folks to work with, convenient location for me.

    Cons

Organizationally it is way too top-heavy. Too many V.P.'s, Sr. Directors, etc.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Rumors swirling that a lay-off i scoming early 2012. Sales are down in DUV. Let people know early. Families are affected.
Cut some senior level wood this time.

Bring back the quarterly profit sharing plan; do away with the once a year plan.
