Caught in between the old and the new

Product Manager (Current Employee)
Short Hills, NJ

I have been working at D&B full-time for more than 8 years

ProsGreat people and family culture, minus a few that come from past job bad cultures and chose to bring that here. So much potential of what it could be and mean to the future of businesses

ConsTo many senior people at the very top that have not clue how to move us forward. Too many people who think we are a software business and not a data services. All that money and not one purchase of a technology startup to get in the social B2B and analytics game.

Advice to Senior ManagementTell the new CEO to evaluate and reinvent the company like he did at his last job. Get rid of the people who don't have the stomach for re-invention and invest in those who do.

analyst

Business Analyst (Former Employee)
Hong Kong (Hong Kong)

I worked at D&B full-time for less than a year

ProsJoin if you are looking for a stable 9-5 job with no promotion. Is a good place for those who cares nothing and just want to collect the pay.

ConsNever come if you are an ambitious individual who wants to be an 'Analyst'. I promise they would disappoint you on the first day of work.

Advice to Senior ManagementHopeless.
RIP.

Good people, good customers...operations is a sales impediment

RM (Current Employee)
Chicago, IL

I have been working at D&B full-time for more than a year

ProsGreat people to work with. Have had some management change for the better. Customer's view of D&B is changing thanks to a new philosophy

ConsOperations is a bi@#h to deal with! Too many internal hurdles to overcome when trying to sell new solutions. New solutions not ready for market place...sometimes I feel like I am living a real life Dilbert cartoon

Advice to Senior ManagementListen to the sales force. "Everyone is in sales" should be the mantra.

Relationship Manager (Small business/Mid-Market)

Anonymous Employee (Former Employee)

I worked at D&B full-time for more than 5 years

ProsGreat work/life balance, money can be extremely rewarding if you have the right combination of portfolio, leadership, luck, and hard work.

ConsStrong leadership is very hard to come by. There are account/team leadership changes every year sometimes even more frequently. It is a numbers down company and unless you have a good boss, no one has your back. Watch you numbers very carefully, there are several vey unethical people and leaders in this company.

Advice to Senior ManagementFocus more on the people, motivating them, and working on strengthening their skills rather than numbers ONLY.

Overall great experience, however corporate downsizing gutted the technical fulfillment team making things tough.

Sales (Former Employee)
Baltimore, MD

I worked at D&B full-time for more than 5 years

ProsBest place for information bar none across the board....Risk Management, Sales & Marketing, Supply Chain Management. Even with the changes their data is still the most robust in the industry.

ConsDownsizing had a negative affect on their most valuable asset which is their data and its integrity. Some of the enterprise solutions where hard value to communicate mainly due to high price tags. While worth it many companies still struggled with spending so much.

Advice to Senior ManagementTry to better understand customer needs.

D&B Sinking Ship

Account Manager (Current Employee)
Center Valley, PA

I have been working at D&B full-time for more than 10 years

ProsCoworkers are the best part of working at D&B.

ConsSenior Leadership has no idea how to turn things around. Corporate is striving to hold onto market share, but sales team is expected to grow. D&B has no clue how to compete with competition. There is no long term strategy, only ideas that are acted on with poor results at the expense of their sales team. Most managers couldn't do the job as sales reps, but promoted since they can't fill the positions. Moral is at an all time low.

Advice to Senior ManagementClean house from top/down and bring in innovative people with technology skills. This regime is quickly sinking the once known leader in credit information. Create more products to sell so your sales team can grow the accounts.
