Pros
Good People, easy to get by
Cons
did not develop people very well. some weak members of upper managment
Advice to Senior Management
none
Pros
D&E Communications was very customer oriented. As opposed to reviews about other providers as a tech support rep we were given virtually as much time as we needed to resolve customer's technical problems, whether it be an issue with DSL or with e-mail. Quality was definitely preferred over quantity. There was was usually adequate oversight but not overbearing oversight and it let different techs work to their strengths instead of enforcing one way to do things.
Cons
There were limited promotion opportunities. There was some favoritism by supervisors and management. Sometimes it felt that the office could have been run more efficiently.
Advice to Senior Management
If the department had been run more efficiently, perhaps with a bit more oversight, the techs would have a more equal workload, some techs did a lot more work then others.
Pros
This is a friendly place where its hard to fail or get fired and, no matter how much you disagree with the boss, you both keep it on an even keel and are still friends.
Cons
Revenues are going down because we have four full layers of the wrong management. No one seems to have the expertise required for their responsibiliities except a handful of people in Engineering and Finance.
Advice to Senior Management
First, recognize that this is a small company and needs to have just 2 layers of management; CEO and functional heads. Second, realize its about competitive advantage and exceptional presentation. Look at SuperNet and the Lancaster CLEC and ask yourself why nothing since the merger has worked (Jazzd is just SuperNet with better broadband).
