I have been working at DALSA full-time (more than 10 years)

    Pros

The technology and the people (most) are amazing and great to work with. I enjoyed working here over the years.

    Cons

Most people who work here have been here for a long time. This can it very difficult to change or improve processes and to advance/grow. Some benefits are left to manager discretion and can be given or taken away based on your relationship with management. Compensation is not distributed based on hard work and performance but more on management's whim. Previous CEO cared about his employees, not so sure about the new one.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

All of your employees matter and you should focus more on morale and growing their careers. You should compensate your hard working employees and reward them appropriately; not just the ones that make the most noise.

I worked at DALSA as an intern

    Pros

Average salary, Good workload, Nice people, fun culture, Good working environment, Interns/co-ops are treated as full time, Occasional free food

    Cons

less flexible hours, less perks (some events and town hall with free food, shower facility, free cookie, end of term lunch are pretty much all)

    I worked at DALSA full-time

    Pros

Mostly nice people, with a pool of young engineers who have the talent and potential to bring to the company, and the company situates in a very nice town.

    Cons

The company culture was not meritocracy based and the imbalanced management team didn't know or care how to rally engineers across the board for close collaboration.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Top management needs to show leadership for a 21st century high-tech company and build a technically-solid and balanced management team or it risks demoralizing employees (mainly engineers), failing to meet unrealistic delivery schedules and losing market shares.

    Cons

The organizational communication must be improved, a lot senior level positions.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Being open and transparent with the employees about the challenges it faces and provide motivation to achieve their goals.

I have been working at DALSA full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

The people around the office are nice. The quality of work is decent. The nature of the business keeps it interesting.

    Cons

No matter how good performance is, it always seems like we are "missing targets". It seems like the company is constantly shifting focus. It feels like corporate doesn't know what they are doing.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Focus on setting attainable goals. It's frustrating to be constantly promised something to always miss it for some seemingly made up reason.

I have been working at DALSA full-time

    Pros

There are some good things about working here.
    -flexible schedule
    -decent salary
    -good benefits

Some people might be happy with all this but there are cons...

    Cons

-most people worked here for 15-20 years and they are still used to old ways. Now that DALSA is owned by Teledyne, things have changed. Being part of a larger corporation it seems like we don't get any rewards...
    - most ppl seemed to have reached a plateau

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Employees need some incentives. No motivation to work.

We are not here for the salary or the recognition from the High Management, only because the job is interesting.

I have been working at DALSA full-time (more than 10 years)

    Pros

The people which work in the Montreal division are competent, fun and can work together to achieve great goals. The projects are stimulating.

    Cons

The company was bought 3 times since the last 10 years, from Coreco it became Dalsa then was bought by Teledyne. Since then, employees are the less important things in this big company. Even if we have the best quarter of all, the management will do compressions, fire people and get rid of bonuses and salary increases, all this to please the Shares holders. Each individual company, have to pay Teledyne each quarter to buy new acquisitions. This Company grow by acquisition not by individual growing; that mean that once you were bought, the better you can do is stay the same size, until eventually you have to sale your soul in order to be able to pay the Headquarter.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

The employees have less interest and do not want to work as hard as before. The employees morale has never been lower. Unfortunately year after year management has found a way to avoid paying their employees to their value. Please remember that it will always be the betters that will quit first.

I have been working at DALSA full-time (more than 10 years)

    Pros

Excellent technical staff. Senior engineers are very nice. Lot of qualify and talented people.

    Cons

    Weak or absence of bonus.
Weak or absence of raise of salary.
As soon you work for this company, your salary will be stuck and won't follow the cost of living.
Could be good to take experience then leaving for company that as better wage policy.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Employees should not be the ones who are always losing when decisions on profits should be taken because they are the ones who create the products that will ensure future profits for the company.
