I worked at DBS Bank full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

You work for human beings that you actually see and talk to. The partners are experts in their fields that genuinely care about their clients and their employees.

    Cons

You are working in a top-flight business with dynamic people that push themselves hard. That means, as an employee, you must do the same. It you can handle hard work you will like it, if not, you want to go elsewhere.

I have been working at DBS Bank full-time (more than 10 years)

    Pros

DBS may not be a big player on the regional or the global playing field, but this is not necessarily a bad thing. My sense is that the ambition of the Senior management team to reinvent banking provides employees who are willing to be pioneers, an opportunity to create a new model in Asian banking. In this size, the relatively small size and relatively flat structure are advantages. The bank has also recently revisited its core values and the new set of values seem sensible and resonate with staff. The environment is generally collegial.

    Cons

The biggest challenge is dealing with legacy thinking (that DBS is the biggest bank in Singapore and can therefore rest on its laurels). This is particularly the case when trying to expand regionally. Taking what is working in Singapore, and assuming it will work in the region can sometimes be misleading.

I have been working at DBS Bank full-time (less than an year)

    Pros

Pay is quite decent, leave given amount looks good at the surface, some welfare given, close working relationship with superior and colleagues

    Cons

Very challenging KPIs to meet, management only seem to be blinded by KPIs without knowing the issues on the ground, some processes too troublesome and only seem to make customer in a worse position than previously, leaving customer service officers to bear the brunt of their frustration. Slow to adapt to new technologies compared to competitors, impossible to take leave unless u apply a year in advance.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Still have lots of room for improvement. High turnover is a clue that something is not working right.
