    Pros

You work for human beings that you actually see and talk to. The partners are experts in their fields that genuinely care about their clients and their employees.

    Cons

You are working in a top-flight business with dynamic people that push themselves hard. That means, as an employee, you must do the same. It you can handle hard work you will like it, if not, you want to go elsewhere.

I worked at DBS Bank as an intern (less than an year)

    Pros

Worked in an understaffed team within corporate banking so it was pretty hands-on, worked largely with accounts with other banks, funds and asset management firms. Everyone on the team was very willing to answer my questions and help me out even though they were all really busy. They're also well aware I was an intern and made sure I didn't stay over time as long as I got my work done. Very caring and intimate group.

DBS really tries to host events and give perks here and there to retain employees and cultivate a comfortable and open company culture. Even in our two months there, we got access to promotional sales at the office and food events. Not sure how the majority of the company feels about this but the interns appreciated the efforts on behalf of the company.

In general, I'd say working at DBS was fine. It was good, but not exceptional.

    Cons

Since DBS acquired Dao Hang bank a decade ago, the company in HK still retains a very 'local' culture even though it is a regional bank. However, it is attempting to close the gap and move into diversifying as we can see from the recent classes of HK MAs consisting of talented individuals from various parts of Asia not just Hong Kong. Nonetheless, the vibe is definitely different from your global banks like JPM, Citi, GS, etc.

Some internal database/search systems are kind of old and not conducive to tasks but I heard that the case is similar with other companies' corporate banking group.
