A really good small company; stretched resources and lacking leadership

I worked at DCM Services full-time (more than 8 years)

    Pros

The company offers a lot of perks: casual atmosphere/dress, flexible schedules for a majority of the entry level "Account Rep" positions, competitive pay in most departments, a good culture (a work hard, have fun atmosphere), decent bonuses, and a fairly competitive benefits package. At one time there was a lot of room for advancement while it may seem less so now, don't let other reviews fool you...it's always been about what you accomplish; if you work hard, are professional, resilient and demonstrate an interest in growth - you will be recognized and rewarded. Finally, the best thing about the company is the people - they are phenomenal!!! It can be like a family if you want it to be!

    Cons

After the founder(s) left (2007-ish), leadership started lacking at the executive level and the lack of vision and focus over the course time has seeped into the middle management. Stress levels can rise when client requests and demands overwhelm the company (kudos to middle management for keeping this from getting to the front lines!).

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

You have an opportunity to create a phenomenal place to work; just remember that people are your primary asset and that the services the company provides need not be compromised by (sometimes unrealistic) client demands.

I have been working at DCM Services full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

I have been with this company for many years and am actively seeking employment elsewhere. My co-workers are fantastic and I enjoy the casual atmosphere and the benefits are great to have. They throw a fantastic company christmas party!

    Cons

This company has consistently gone downhill since the CEO left a few years back. Wages have decreased for starting employees, tenured employees are offered raises in the 40 cents range for stellar service and employees no longer feel valued. 401k was cut while they continue to offer free lunch and breakfast when really all the employees want is a fair wage consistent with rising economic cost of living and this company is not keeping pace. The company started hiring out of a temp agency and now we cannot keep decent intelligent employees here, the turnover rate is embarassing. Recent management emails have gone out that we are no longer able to have personal conversations by email, employees are not allowed to converse personally on work time and there is absolutely no contact with the outside world. All we do is "smile and dial" with no internet, no access to cell phones, no talking etc. It had gotten terrible.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Treat your employees like they are more than a paycheck.

Good entry-level, not so good for moving up

I worked at DCM Services full-time (less than an year)

    Pros

Great culture, most people very friendly, bonuses for account reps are decent, monthly lunches/breakfasts, flexible schedule for account reps.

    Cons

Inflexible schedule for non-ARs (meaning you HAVE to drive in Minneapolis' rush hour both ways every day), if you don't hit your goal and get no bonus as an AR you barely make a living wage. Definitely some cliques and people to avoid.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Be more in touch with your employees - no one takes an AR job because they WANT to. Help them be successful and find ways for them to move up. Or at least say "good job" once in a while like my manager did.
