Treat everyone fairly

Salary is just adequate. If yo u can work your way into management you can get away with murder.
One of best "Good ole Boys" club in the Oil and Gas industry.

Unbelievable work load and stress levels. Field personal feel that upper management are completely ignorant of what has to be done by hourly employees. I have even heard it said by one of the management team that "If you don't like the way things are done leave".
They will never make the "Best Companies to work for outside of office personal in Denver.
Advice to Senior Management
It would help if you got back to the roots and remember that without the "little guys" guys out here in the heat and cold YOU wouldn't have a job. The gains we saw in employee relations under the previous management team has vaporized.

Advice to Senior Management
On the whole, DCP leadership is doing a great job and they're great people to work for. The company should have more confidence -- take a more aggressive approach to long-term growth, invest more in the organization and people, place more emphasis on innovation and less on cost control.
Pros
The culture, work-life balance, and benefits are DCP Midstream's strengths. I also really respect senior management's ability to drive this company to new heights in the future, which makes me proud to work here. Senior management really cares about their employees. It is neat that you can hear bottom level employee conversations and then go to a quarterly employee meeting and hear that the executives discuss some of the same issues with resolutions. Executives really listen well.
Cons
The opportunities for career advancement are few and far between for bottom level employees. It is such a great place to work that middle management rarely turns over. This could change in the future as the company grows. Big public accounting experience and employees from our parent companies get the best opportunities, especially in accounting. They don't take time to groom thier bottom employees for opportunities.

Beneifts were great. They even pay for downtown parking.

Zero career growth. Training budget was consistenly cut over the past 5 years. Management show favortism. Employees do not feel valued or appreciated.

Outsourcing to other countries is not the solution for accountability and responsibility.

In some departments the flexibility is the best.
Cons
Management is so focused on costs 100% of the time you can't pay for system enhancements. Now when times are good for oil and gas are the times to look and pay for systems. Also along the costs line is the STI payout averages about 11% per year and rarely are we ever above that on actual payout when all other oil and gas companies in this area pay 20%.
Advice to Senior Management
Quit setting unrealistic budgets and to not worry about costs so much. Instead of paying $500 million to our parents use 1/2 of that money to put back into our own company and perhaps even pay the employees more. A 10% increase across the board might get everyone's moral up and get us up to the market salary for each job title.
