    Pros

This company is booming and you can feel it! DDN is consistently hiring, growing, and succeeding. Employees have the freedom to take their own approach on getting the job done, as long as it gets done in a timely manner. My experience here has been fulfilling because I am challenged in a healthy and positive way, I am consistently given the opportunity to improve upon current processes, and my colleagues feel like more than just colleagues. DDN is on its way to the highest ranks of the industry and if you are someone looking for growth, professional flexibility, and certain future success, now is the time to join. DDN offers some wonderful benefits taboot!

    Cons

If you need set-in-stone structure, this is not the place for you. There are not black and white lines, or a rule-book to refer to. (This is part of what I personally love about it here, but some would find this too chaotic and discouraging.)

I have been working at DDN Storage full-time

    Pros

Wonderful work environment with very little "micro-managing". I love the atmosphere of having faith in employees to get the job done and to be confident in doing so. The ability to prove oneself and to have underlying - the tools to what it takes without question is a great asset to an employee's peace of mind!

    Cons

Inter-departmental communication is a bit lacking.

I have been working at DDN Storage full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

The company is full of hard working and dedicated employees who give their all, day in and day out in support of the company.

    Cons

Wages are below industry norms and the workloads are unsustainable for this reason the company has trouble attracting and maintaining quality employees. The CEO does not comprehend the evolving storage market and has no long term strategic direction beyond increasing storage capacity and throughput.

    Advice to Management

Stop chasing deals and hire a sharp, insightful industry veteran who thinks strategically, so that 600 employees won't find themselves looking for work in the near future.

    Pros

When you are ready to take a lot responsibility, then you will find very interesting customer base and very talented colleagues.

    Cons

When you can motivate yourself, you are at the right place to work. When you expect strict management guidance, you should not even start to think about a position.

    Advice to Management

DDN Storage has a great team and they should have a lot of freedom to perform and then they will grow the company even beyond the most positive scenario's one can think about. Management passion should be continued.

    Pros

Great company culture, has a start-up feel. Friendly and helpful staff. This is a fun and exciting place to work. Flexible hours and the company culture accepts some telework/work from home.

    Cons

Things move fast here, and you will be expected to keep up.

I have been working at DDN Storage full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

DDN offers a highly flexible and laid back work environment, upper management does take steps to let employees know they are cared for and appreciated.

    Cons

Occasional bursts of hectic demands, limited cushion from processes and planning from management. The cooperate vision does not seem to be spread evenly between Engineering and other parts of the company. Somewhat weak project management and QA practices.

    Advice to Management

I do not feel qualified to offer advice to management as I don't think I could run a company as well or better myself. That being said I think I would prefer to see more stability in leadership at the mid to upper tiers of management.

No structure overall and no work / life balance at all

I worked at DDN Storage full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Some great people met and worked with Some very intelligent and creative people

    Cons

No work/life balance Incompetent middle management One hand not knowing what the other is doing Company being prepped to sell Absolutely no recognition for the extra hours and amount of work put in

    Advice to Management

My advice to management would be to actually "manage" your people. The disconnect between upper management and what really is happening within the company is ridiculous. Sad that DDN will lose a lot of great dedicated talent because incompetent morons are given the power to make decisions when they have repeatedly proven they don't have a clue.

I worked at DDN Storage full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Oh, what could have been!! Great technology; smart, focused and fun-to-work-with set of co-workers.

    Cons

Oh, what could have been!! Poor upper management. Managed more like a lifestyle company rather than high growth company (it should have been, being a veteran in storage industry for so long!!). Feels like founders/owners don't want to let go of the control. Either than or they don't know how to take the next step in organizational growth. Employees are hardly cared about. Foot soldiers will never feel appreciated in this company and there are no growth opportunities at any level. You never know what is cooking in the upper management unless you have connections. Lethargic decision making with regards to next gen product portfolio or new market segments.

    Advice to Management

Not qualified to give any advice and probably as successful as they are despite best efforts. Only advice is, please be connected with your employees, keep the communication open, and please please do appreciate the hard work done by remaining smart people in the organization. They are creating miracles with the limited resources you provide!
