    Pros

    York is a very nice community with low cost of living and few hours from great metropolitan areas. Washington DC is a couple of hours by car and NYC is about three hours by train.

    Cons

    Some behavior by senior management is quite questionable and border line unethical. If there is an investigation and Dentsply is found guilty, you could be in trouble depending on your level of responsibility.

    Be honest and don't try to fix the results.

    This is a good place to work. Some better most alot worse. Would recommend to someone looking to find a stape job

    Cons

    It has the same cons as most places. Senior management doesnt listen to the cries of associates until it is unbearable. Some management seems to forget that they can be replaced

    Consider doing a little bit more on a personal level with the associates. Make EHS more visable and proactive rather than reactive

    Relatively flat organization without a lot of room for advancement above middle level
    Slow decision-makers on critical issues
    Not overly entrepreneurial

    Need to make future shaping decisions more rapidly and definitively
    Need to reward team players in ways other than continuing to pile new work and projects on them
    Need to celebrate wins once in a while

    Poor Business Strategy and Culture Makes this Company Fall Behind the Competition

    Pros

    Fast paced which allows you to learn a fair amount quickly. $1/year dental insurance. Several divisions with the ability apply internally. Lower risk medical devices are usually easier and less stressful to work with

    Cons

    Behind the competition, markets 10 year old products for 10 years straight with no new products between. Poor company culture, no accountability from coworkers with constant "finger pointing". Rarely any benefits, acknowledgement, or appreciation for hard work, which can often be over looked unless you are in a specific position. Timelines are unrealistic, workload is excessive, and the resources to get the job done are non-existent. "Revolving Door" company with constant turnover. Unfair employee treatment between departments, which management does not even try and hide. Unethical choices made by Senior Management and forced onto the basic worker.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Understand that no incentive for hard work cause a high turnover and unhappy employees. You should be paying closer attention to the input the basic workers do at all levels - good talent will not stick (and has not stuck) around as they can no longer allow the non-hard working employees to follow in there coattails and receive equal recognition.

    Benefits are OK, many of the people are great to work with.

    Cons

    supervisors in the manufacturing areas are useless! They depend on their unit leaders for everything..Most have absolutely no knowledge of their area. Upper management is only a bunch of yes people, afraid to say anything to their superiors. Years ago, the supervisors were very knowledgeable of their areas and could fill in if needed, now not a chance. This company was once a leader in its field.

    get more involved with the "little people" you might learn something. Most of your talent has left this company and you need to listen to those that are left.

    Great people. Work/life balance. Fantastic amenities(cafeteria, gym, basketball courts, racquetball, tennis, ec.)

    Cons

    "Promotions" based more on time at company rather than merit. Atmosphere of "finger pointing" and lack of accountability at team member level - trickles down from management and attitudes at other divisions within franchise. Employee reviews are meaningless with no output, top scores seem to be handed out to everyone as an attempt to keep morale high. Lack of strategy - expectations not realistic by senior management.

    Develop employees with product knowledge into management roles.

    Do not tell your employees that there are opportunities in other divisions, only to come back and say NO.

    Lack of advancement opportunities, low morale, no true organic growth, limited technological vision for both manufacturing and marketing. Leadership is out of touch, RSM's are fairly clueless as to what goes on in the field

    Pros

    Beautiful location in Islandia, NY. Plenty of amenities including soccer, racquetball, table tennis, volleyball, tennis, basketball, full weights and cardio room. Company has small size to provide good visibility and a wide variety of tasks allowing for growth of experience. Good work / life balance. Mostly Class I medical device therefore giving shorter product development lifecycles.

    Cons

    Personal growth ladder limiting both professionally and financially. The pay will almost always be lower than what you expect for your position. I know of a few individuals who have tried to transfer to another division / location and have had it shut down hard by upper management who were afraid to lose local talent. Promotions are handed out easily if you seem discontent. However the increase will be small and the responsibility difference will be negligible. The good people are passive and easily overlooked while the bad workers thrive on the good will and courtesy of others. Not a meritocratic environment as the company treats those who work hard and those who do not all too similarly.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    The company has potential but individual P&L for each division inhibits collaboration and synergy. Leadership positions need to be more heavily scrutinized and held accountable for results. Do not promote an atmosphere of pointing fingers as it is contagious and heavily detrimental to success.
