Pros
Flexibility to work autonomously as needed.
Cons
Too many product lines and reports.
Pros
Very stable work environment. You really have to mess up repeatedly before they will fire you. GREAT benefits
Cons
As management constantly states "dentsply is a lean organization" translation: they pay low, and you often perform 2-3 other job functions in addition to your actual job. You are asked to wear many hats at Dentsply without the paycheck to reflect it.
Pros
Good people friendly coworkers and clients
Cons
Goals are often set to where 50% don't make them
Pros
Good benefit and work-life balance.
Cons
more interaction between different divisions.
Pros
Salary
Benefits
Solid Industry
Company Global Position
Cons
Divisional alignment with corporate strategies, especially within HR.
Advice to Senior Management
HR needs to be more Strategic, especially in Peformance Reviews and Career Planning. It is not just about the job, but the person's competencies when looking for emerging leaders and not just in "non" management. Directors need to be held accountable in communications to mid-level managers and comply with other HR requirements. Job Analysis's completed, there is a disconnect between Job Descriptions, actual job and work/life balance. If HR is going to be involved with management of people, they need to understand the actual jobs of those people and explain their roles and responsibilities to those managers. Need to strive for an ageless workplace and promote more woman and other minorities! Their IT management is not strategic and their fragmented mentality costs the company alot of money and time.
Pros
It is a very stable, well-managed corporation at the top levels; the products are very high-quality; the reputation with customers is very strong.
Cons
Marketing and product managers suck at inventory management and product launches and they are very inflexible.
Advice to Senior Management
Either decide that you are going to trust your sales people to make sound business decisions or retool, hiring people whose judgement you will trust. Marketing/product management should be a support mechanism for sales rather than a roadblock.
Pros
Good benefits, good lower level workers, good products
Cons
The work life balance isn't very good. Management is not as engaged with lower level employees. Not enough innovation currently happening.
Advice to Senior Management
Would like to see more interaction between upper management and lower level workers. It would also be great if a better system for career advancement was put in place.
Pros
Decent benefits package.
Individual managers can be extremely supportive.
Front-line employees are dedicated, and a great group to work with.
Cons
Upper management is completely removed from the day to day issues which concern employees.
Speaking as a male, women are extremely under-represented in the organization.
No effort is made to accommodate a work/family balance.
Advice to Senior Management
Stop living off of the reputation Dentsply had as an industry leader five years ago. Return to the role of innovator, not imitator, which made the company successful in the first place.
Get out of your offices and talk to the people on the front lines. They are the ones who can offer the best ideas on how to improve the company.
Pros
Good products, good name, great past.
Cons
Poor leadership, products are over priced.
Advice to Senior Management
Take some classes on leadership and really caring about your employees.
Pros
Great culture and family atmosphere.
Aggressive efforts to push products out of door
Benefits are the best I ever had
Cons
Behind technology wise and no push from IT to have other departments update very outdated applications
No possibilities of growth unless you work at the corporate HQ
Advice to Senior Management
It would be great to have input of possibilities of advancement and then follow through when steps are actually completed
