Pros
moving toward being fully automated, gain a lot of experience and skills. Company has the potential to be a big company.
Cons
Lower benefits and top heavy company.
Advice to Senior Management
The management make the level of morale up. Improve benefits and always have constant communication with the people informing them of the state of the company
Pros
Middle managers, VPs and the technical managers at DEX are extremely competant and knowledgable about their products and services. I have the highest respect for them.
Cons
The CEO continues to micro-manage the business rather than let the person's hired to run the company do their job. While other CEO's list their businesses as growing revenue and increasing gross margins, DEX continues to buck the trend and head in the opposite direction due to a lack of leadership.
Advice to Senior Management
A successful CEO is someone who surrounds himself or herself with talented individuals who know more than they do. Trust in your managements capabilities to succeed rather than fire them because they do not go along with the status quo. In the end you will see that the company will grow beyond your expectations.
Pros
Management is fairly hands off, but they aren't there to help either.
Nice group of people for the most part.
Cons
In short, the internet has made their business model obsolete, making it extremely difficult to achieve sales goals. Even when you do everything right, there are tons of things that can and do go wrong and ruin the sale (it's happened numerous times to everyone there). Turnover is extremely high, I have seen at least 6 people leave in the course of 1 week.
Training is woefully inadequate, none of the so called trainers know how to sell because they haven't ever sold. How can you teach something you've never done?
Advice to Senior Management
Modernize your business model, cold calling and sourcing parts through google wont work when every one with a computer can do the same.
Pros
Young people, easy going environment. If you are a local then its better than working at Mcdonalds for 8/hr.
Cons
They trick you into joining their company with the promise that they will place you in your field of interest once you complete all 3 stages of their Internship. Lack of involvement from the management. They will keep you at the low pay no matter how well or great you do your job.
Advice to Senior Management
Stop tricking recent grads and wasting their time with promise of related experience. I wasted 4 months that I wish I could get back.
Pros
Office location is on the lightrail
Cons
No communication, career opportunity or real benefit to working here.
Advice to Senior Management
Quit promoting based off of special treatment and promote peopel with the skills to do the job
Pros
The pay was good and the hours were flexible. The benefits were good at the time.
Cons
Management felt that our department was no longer necessary without talking to the sales department or the customers. They have since rebuilt the department and made it a non union position. Morale is low because there are still massive lay offs, pay freezes and major reductions in benefits..
Advice to Senior Management
Listen to the people who you have on the front lines. They will tell you how to grow your business.
Pros
Good Company to cut your teeth into the services industry. You will be very knowledgeable about P&L Responsibilities.
Excellent systems.
Some very very nice poeple to work WITH.
Cons
Chaos of revolving door of leadership team. Every 18 months new leadership, new time to prove yourself again, and often times destructive attitude toward "Old DEX" employees. Customers often come last in the profit and customer satisfaction equation.
Advice to Senior Management
Stabilize leadership revolving door.
Pros
Flexibility, good culture, hands on experience
Cons
Its not the best out there, but can use some more resources and more mentoring and personal development tools
Advice to Senior Management
Would be good to have more resources and access to growth and learning
Pros
Compensation was excellent till interenet caught on
Cons
Management can be very unprofessional and mean spirited when people pull their advertising
Advice to Senior Management
FInd a new approach to selling typewriters in a digital age
Pros
You come and go as you want. You have to be there for a Monday morning meeting but then you can work from home or at the office pretty much your call. They treat you like a grown-up. Just do a good job and your good to go.
Cons
People are not using the yellow pages like they used to so its much harder to sell. They really want new customers and its hard to get people to buy into a dying advertising medium and that was depressing.
Advice to Senior Management
Get current with your products. You charge way to much money for the phone books and the ROI just isn't there anymore.
