    Management needs work.

    ProsGood benefits, and a great work schedule. Advance system that makes the operation work smoothly and swiftly. Freedom while out on route.

    ConsThey have no warehouse fans, so it gets pretty hot. The management deals with favoritism. The hours are tight due to late freight, and because of that you might not get lunch break.

    Not a good place to work in the US

    Outside Sales Account Executive (Former Employee)

    ProsInternationally, DHL has great brand recognition and an excellent international network. Decent commission rates... when you can actually hit your number.

    ConsThe majority of customers in the US believe DHL went out of business when domestic shipping stopped in 2006. It's not a good start to a sales call when customers thought your company went out of business. DHL cannot come close to competing with volume discounts given by UPS and FedEx due to bundling domestic and international shipping. Extremely difficult to reach the goals they set to hit your number.

    Advice to Senior ManagementPlease be realistic about expectations of growth. 20% is absolutely unrealistic for a company who's primary concern should be retaining the small amount of market share they do have.

    Prepare To Wear Many Hats

    ProsGreat company to work for. If you're just starting out in shipping and logistics this is the place to be. You will end up doing far more than your job description. While it could be a negative, it can actually help you by expanding your experience and skills in many areas beyond. I'm thankful for the experience.

    ConsManagement from the top executive branch down to higher levels and middle management were clueless on how to create and organic environment. It was far much more about egos and power and less about running a business operation successfully.

    Advice to Senior ManagementListen to your customers, listen to your people first and foremost. Identify the key areas and physical locations where quality is low and come up with real world solutions for improving the processes, the quality, the customers experience and seek to grow and innovate.

    The company couldn't compete effectively with U.P.S. and Fed-Ex using their ex managers/supervisors.

    ProsGlobal reach and plenty of development opportunities. The company has good people development plan that when taken seriously can benefit employees and bring their knowledge and skills up.

    ConsShift changes, long hours. The nature of the work in this company is that it assumes shift work and sometimes often shift changes. Not easy to organize private life around.
