    Pros

Get to take the van home (free gas) free directv. Recognition perks.

    Cons

Poor training. 6 weeks. After, sink or swim. Also, you have to buy a lot of your own tools (management says invest in your craft) and have to buy your own boots ($100 reimbursed every 18 months) Only paid piece rate or if you do not complete any job ($12.50 an hour) Orders incorrect upon arrival at locations (may take long to adjust orders) carrying the 28 ft ladder and climbing into attics and crawl spaces. Non-paid huddles and a lot of time non-paid. I am sorry to say but DIRECTV gets over on their employees. Also, we are not contractors!!!!

    Advice to Management

Stop micro managing and a lot of people are negative and dead tired from all the jobs!

I have been working at DIRECTV full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Good benefit and compensation culture focused employee engagement employee resource groups gym and nice cafeteria on site socially responsible and diverse company good leadership ethical development and continuous learning opportunities

    Cons

There are really no major cons overall. The experience will vary depending on your exact department and manager, but the company does everything they can to make it a great place to work.

    Advice to Management

Keep up the great employee engagement focus, it really makes a difference. Continue focus on the leadership formula, and hold all managers accountable to it.

    Pros

Good hands-on training experience. Manager trains you for a week in the store (usually Best Buy or Sam's Club). Very detailed training and lots of practice/role playing. This really increases your confidence as a salesperson.

    Cons

You have to be a go-getter for this job, otherwise you will be standing around for 9 hours a day twiddling your thumbs. Pay based off of commission only unless you don't meet your weekly sales quota. Then you get minimum wage.

    Advice to Management

Don't stop training employees. Offer more incentives and ways to motivate employees. put more than 1 person in the store. This helps with feeding off of each other's successes.

    Pros

Company over-all provides decent perks for full-time employees. Free television service during employment, events for employees during the holidays and big events such as NFL Sunday Ticket. Promotes an environment that encourages collaborating among multiple departments. Depending on the department some employees can be wonderful to work with.

    Cons

A company geared towards an older work-force, has a hard time maintaining millennials looking for a fresh creative environment. Depending on ones manager and department it is a very dog-eat-dog environment. Long demanding hours where one is never able to complete all tasks assigned to them, with minimal work-life balance. Which can make it extremely hard to take time off and actually use personal time off. Managers can be demeaning and critical in a non-constructive manner that borderlines as unprofessional. Minimal training is provided and then one is reprimanded for not performing a task efficiently. Cattiness and the resemblance of high school like behavior can be seen throughout some departments, as well as favoritism.

    Advice to Management

Learn to train new talent coming into the department, as well as communicate more efficiently. Tasks cannot be completed if an employee is left with no tools to complete the task, no matter how resourceful and savvy they may be.
