Current Employee – been working at DISH
Pros – it is ok job if you like to be yelled at everyday.
Cons – everything you can think of, they dont really care about the employees, they force you to sale and you have a handle time and if you dont have 100% they will fire you.
Advice to Senior Management – have more training, and let go of the handle time,

Former Employee – worked at DISH full-time for less than a year
Pros – There were a handful of amazing people who I will continue to kee in touch with as they move onto new positions.
Cons – Endless hours, poor regional management with a culture of churn and burn. Many employees are "talent planned" out who have potential to become long term employees. I left because the culture as it was portrayed during executive interivew process was stunted by all level of management and not supportive of employee development
Advice to Senior Management – Don't utilize metrics to be your management. Allow local office management to play a larger role in the culture chang that is desperately needed. Remove the ROMs as they are a useless layer of manaement which does not bring value to the team.

Former Employee – worked at DISH full-time for less than a year
Pros – Cheap TV service, they give out nice prizes in raffles/contests and a lot of catered lunches.
Cons – They have this place run like a strict factory. I accepted the job even after having read about DISH's bad reputation. What a huge mistake. I thought that what people were saying wouldn't apply to me because I get to work on time, am responsible and am good at following directions. I was ready to work hard and put in the extra hours that were required and accepted the job as it was with a positive attitude and a smile on my face. Nothing glamorous- just sitting in a cubicle all day selling Dish TV service where there is potential to make a lot of money. The training was only 2 weeks. There is an underlying distrust among all employees- you have to bring the headset home with you at night! Talk about micromanaging- you have the QA team issuing punishment for how reps make 'integrity mistakes' on phone calls. Everybody gets dinged at least once for these mistakes- which of course you lose your commission on that sale (or more) and have the possibility of being fired hanging over your head. Pretty severe punishment for sometimes, just a human error or something you weren't trained on. This instill fear in the employees. For a person who has high integrity and takes pride in what they do- this is absolutely insulting and demoralizing. If everybody is getting these, why point the finger at the reps? Maybe it is about time to see what is wrong with the system that is still allowing these mistakes to happen. Sure there are some bad apples out there as there are with any sales environment who are greedy and do anything to get a sale. There has got to be a better way to weed them out. Morale is very low here, pretty much any conversation while not working is complaining about work. I will also add that it is dirty here- tables in the cafeteria are a mess and the desks are never cleaned. DISH seems like it has been a success story for a lot of people out of high school who get the job, make decent money without ever going to college and move up in the company- professionalism is low here.
Advice to Senior Management – There is a high turnover rate for a reason- do something about it! You are losing good people.

Former Employee – worked at DISH full-time
Pros – Dish is a place to get some experience to start a career. You can build a set of skills that are very attractive on the job market if you are willing to work hard and learn.
The paychecks don't bounce
Free TV service with very good technology.
Cons – Dish is a place where many of the long time employees in management positions are A) not qualified for their position and B) unlikely to find a position with comparable pay elsewhere. They can (and do) act like wounded beasts because of this. Golden handcuffs can ruin more lives than just your own so make sure you don't get fitted with a pair engraved with "Dish".
Employee engagement is generally poor. There are several factors in this. One is poor leadership behavior. Dish is a university of how NOT to comport yourself like a leader of men and women. The preferred management practice is to rule through fear. Another is subpar compensation - many experienced employees leave because even a lateral move into another company means better pay. Employees are often stuck doing tedious work that requires little imagination or thought. This is because the Dish approach to many problems is best described with the term "Zergling rush", i.e., throwing lots of expendable, poorly paid people at big problems for hours (or days) on end. The slogan du jour in response to poor employee engagement is "Dish isn't for everyone" which is really just an excuse for bad management behavior.
Nearly every con at Dish derives in some way from employee engagement. This can be seen even at the top of the heap; the big dogs just want the money and they act like jerks because although they want the pay that comes with managing people I don't think they want to buy into the rest of the deal. Since turds roll downhill the whole valley is polluted.
Advice to Senior Management – Many (probably most) of you need to step back, take a long hard look at what you've been doing in your career, and do something else. Very few of you will however. How else will you make the payments on all that stuff?

Former Employee – worked at DISH
Pros – My peers were really nice. We bonded over the terrible environment we were working in.
Cons – Absolutely ridiculous micro-management, badge system where if you arrive at work at 9:01 you need to write an email to your boss to why you were late to work. Yes, I'm serious.
Advice to Senior Management – Keep doing what you're doing and watch the company crumble. Do you wonder why the turnover is so high over there?

Current Employee – been working at DISH full-time for more than 7 years
Pros – Management is very cooperative & try to help &work with their employee.
Cons – some manager follow the company guidelines, In case if employee caught in traffic jam or some emergencies, employee will be marked as late.
Advice to Senior Management – If the employee has been punctual for a long time, occasionally traffic jam or some emergencies should not be considered as a tardy because no body has control over natural causes. Even you leave early to get to work, things can happen that can make you late occasionally but they should not be as strict, they should be more understanding.

Current Employee – been working at DISH
Pros – Create work enviroment. All support staff is always eager to help, from senior agents to the coaches and managers. Great training and good knowledge database. Varying shifts, plus bonuses and celebrations almost monthly. Plenty to do even when you're not working.
Cons – If you're not a person that's used to change, that is the one thing that may hold you back. This is an ever changing and evolving business and you have to learn to change with it. That may be the only drawback to someone that is looking for a normal 9-5 job. If there is a need for the customer, then we have to fulfill it.
