Pros
Working at DISH Network teaches you a lot in a short amount of time. You are able to work on a variety of different projects and gain exposure to many facets of the business. It is a large company, and is extremely faced paced.
Cons
There is little room for upward mobility unless someone above you vacates their position, and even then they often higher from outside the company. The salary is not equal to the work put into the job.
Pros
Most of the other agents are amazing.
Sometimes it can be a fun place to work.
The technology is second to none.
Could be the best satallite provider in the U.S. if they wanted to.
Cons
They really don't care about the customer.
All metrics but especially AHT (Average handle time)
Horrible insurance program
Sales dept is overseas

Advice to Senior Management
Get rid of the AHT. Give your agents the time to save our customers instead of just making 2 offers and cancelling accts (as we are repeatedly told to do by managers to save AHT)
Better advertising is a must. Our commercials are forgettable and do nothing to show how amazing our company really is.

Colleagues were nice. Work was interesting.

Management was horrible. Very poor benefits. Constant turnover. Lack of resources. Unreasonable tilt in work life balance to excessive work.
Pros
There is a lot of variety in the work, depending on the team, and each group has some autonomy in making development decisions. The people are friendly, professional, and generally helpful. The corporate campus (in Meridian) is a fairly pleasant place to work, nicely landscaped, and with a good cafeteria. Some of the media-related events (like a BBQ sponsored by HBO to mark the season premiere of True Blood) are fun diversions.
Cons
The "core expectations" are a relic from another century. Granted, the corporate recruiters are very upfront about this, so no one can say they weren't warned when applying there, but the inflexibility they introduce into work/life becomes unacceptable after a while. Working from home for any reason, even weather-related, is not allowed. (VPN access is still provided, so that teams can handle after-hours support.)
The pay and benefits are not up to market standards. The company apparently has no desire to retain top talent. The most useful benefit was the HSA; Dish will contribute to employee HSA accounts if they take a simple health survey and make a tobacco-free pledge.
IT is also badly balkanized; each group jealously guards its turf, and getting a request submitted and completed virtually requires a court order. It shouldn't take three weeks for a software developer to get a laptop set up with the proper software, access to development and test servers, intranet, email, etc....but it did.
Advice to Senior Management
I don't know, try maybe paying your employees better? And find some way to streamline operations so that new employees can get started working right away, and requests for new resources and equipment don't require an act of God.
Pros
For the internship position, I was given a lot of responsibility and a lot of exposure to senior management. I was very impressed with the respect I was given by both normal and high-level employee, and really could not have asked for a better experience.
Cons
While I highly recommend the internship, the full-time position is not quite as rosy. Positions tend to be at the low end of the market average, with an inconsistent and subjective promotion schedule for employees. There is little opportunity to move up, mentorship is neglected, and the common view is that "if you want to move up in the company, join someone else for awhile and then come back."
Advice to Senior Management
Provide a leadership development program for new hires and encourage your management to collaborate a little better between departments.

The pay is reasonable and the benefits are good.
Cons
You are not able to choose the schedule that you will be working. This makes it difficult to have time for your life outside of work. Also, taking ANY time off is a major problem even in a serious situation.

Working at Dish is like being back in elementary school. You get treated like you are a child and monitored as such as well. People are hired to do a job but then there is so much red tape and hierarchy that you cannot even do the job you were hired to do. The benefits are TERRIBLE and costly with the family out of pocket max being 11K. The max amount of time off that you can get here is 3 weeks and that is after 5 years of employment. That is it 3 weeks. No telecommuting opportunities and all employees must be in the building no later than 9:00am. Even if you had been traveling for business and your flight gets in at 10:00pm, still better be in by 9:00am. See like I said it is like being in elementary school again.
Advice to Senior Management
Trust your employees to do the job you hired them to do. Allow them to make decisions as they relate to their own department. Treat your employees with respect and dignity and in return you will get more productivity out of them.

Some nice people, location is not bad.
Cons
Facility reminds me of a barn, hot & cold spots. Mandatory OT, low pay, BORED to tears with anal calls about TV remote devices for entire shift! The training classes are irregular in content and value. Noise is a problem in the support area.

Lay off the overtime, work to improve morale. Silly signs and slogans don't do the trick.

Fast paced, occasionally even fun, pretty good internship program, nearly free satellite television for your home, highly visible company.
Cons
Incredibly bureaucratic, which makes it hard to get things done and hard to even get hired. Little respect for employees, oppressive culture within corporate office. Poor benefits and pay - it is a running joke with employees about how underpaid everyone is. Mid to upper level management is jerks; they don't usually smile or say hi to you when you pass. Employees will work on projects for months until suddenly a higher up decides to trash the whole thing. Employee turnover is so bad you sometimes can't finish projects because half of the project team will have quit. Possibly the worst internal IT department I have ever worked with. Lastly, ridiculous corporate policies. I once scanned in (yes, you have to use a finger scan to get in so they can track your hours) one minute passed their required start time and was written up by HR, told I am dishonest and have no integrity, and was warned if it happened one more time I would be fired.
