  1.

Decent starter, but unless you're one of the golden boys, don't expect to get anywhere prominent.

I have been working at DLA full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Excellent company culture. The people are all very friendly and people get along great. The company does work hard towards fostering a group unity.

    Cons

Job is often very demanding, and not always duly rewarding. Bonuses, accolades, promotions, and other perks are very selective, and often reserved for those few "golden" employees who always seem to get such recognition. Lots of favoritism, and if you aren't billable, don't expect to get much in the way of compensation.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Be more understanding of back office workload, in both the number of people to do the job as well as what they are paid.

I have been working at DLA full-time for more than 10 years

    Pros

The leave is great asset, especially now under FERS sick leave can be accumulated and used to increase years of service at retirement.

    Cons

The same as in every workplace, Favoritism, Cronyism, and Nepotism. Preselecting people for positions. The interview process for positions is is set up to allow selections of certain individuals. Benefits constantly under attack by congress.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Make decisions that you don't need to defend, that don't need to be kept secret. If a decision like a position selection or an award is made that has to be hidden, then there is something wrong with that decision.

    I worked at DLA

    Pros

Only reason to work here is if you are unemployed and need the money

    Cons

The high turnover rate speaks for itself. The employee moral is lower than any other company that I have worked. Management lacks clear direction and you get conflicting directives. The benefits are poor.

I am working as a subcontractor and at this time there is not enough to go around.

I have been working at DLA

    Pros

Professional leaders allow the staff to learn from them, the work provided is dynamic and you are handed responsiblites up and beyond your abilities with their support.

    Cons

The firm is growing, but there is not enough work to hire the many subcontractors on a full time basis.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Learn to hire for the long term and not for short term needs.
