Pros
Great people, dedicated to customer and to each other.
Better than average compensation
Flexibility of work schedule
Rewards good performance
Cons
Last three years has been increasingly disfunctional
Known troublemakers allowed to continue
Insufficient willingness to confront issues and challenges
Nepotism within some of the organizations
Pros
The medical benefits for overseas deployed employees are awesome. Cigna International is, hands down, the best insurance I've ever had. They generally cover 90% of everything. The premiums are low. Flexible spending account. 401k with matching. The overall compensation is very competitive.
Cons
The HR department utterly fails. They leave you in the dark during the hiring process. There have been numerous pay problems that I've heard of and also experienced myself. You have to stay on top of them to manage your issues. Three years for any 401k vesting...
Advice to Senior Management
Motivate the HR department to actually take care of the employees.
Pros
Health insurance is excellent at DRS.
Cons
Lack of communication, most people waste time at meetings, etc. Low levels of productivity.
Pros
Great benefits and great people to work with
Cons
I don't believe there was enough training and support for job growth. DRS seems to pigeon hole it's employees to perform the same tasks for much of their career. There just isn't much room for a variety in tasks.
Pros
- Good balance in work and life
- Friendly upper management
- Room for growth in career
- Moderate workload
- 3 days weekend in every 2 weeks
Cons
- smaller size groups, means added responsibility
- micromanagement by group manager (depending on the person)
- technical and business work are switched sometimes
Advice to Senior Management
Minor issues are present here and there. But mostly depending on the personality. But overall a nice company to work at. I
Pros
Make great products
People generally very friendly
Flexible work hours
Cons
Supervisor used to speak poorly of management (created strange work environment)
Expectations on projects not always clear
Recently restructured division not completely worked out yet
At my location, all offices had been switched to cubicle layout- many employees complained
Pros
9/80 schedule, Christmas shutdown, 401k match, knowing that we are putting top notch tools in the hands of our soldiers to keep them and our country safe.
Cons
Management takes credit for the work that their people do instead of giving the employee the deserved recognition. Mangement is allowed to mistreat their subordinates.
Advice to Senior Management
Start treating employees with the respect that they deserve. RSTA is a very hostile place to work. There are very few managers at the FL site that actually have management and leadership skills
Pros
Good benefits and bonus plan.
Cons
Non-participative management. Upper management and LoB leaders take all of the credit and little of the blame. Company is 100% sales oriented now; no room or time to create or sustain products.
Advice to Senior Management
Upper management at this location needs to adopt a customer or quality product and services first model not a line my pockets this quarter first mentality.
Pros
-Very good benefit
-very good work environment
Cons
- Needs more efficient leadership to survive in this economy
-lack of job security
Advice to Senior Management
Needs to be more efficient and focus in finding new projects
Pros
Outstanding benefit package in today's economy.
Cons
Very poor people management. Micromanagement of budgets prevent groups from accomplishing goals, which drive down productivity and eliminate competitveness.
Advice to Senior Management
Invest in the existing people
