Pros
they have the best people working here
Cons
the hours can be very long
Pros
Good place to work if you have family medical problem
Cons
Management is to busy tring to get to the top and not paying attention to employees.
Advice to Senior Management
Pay attention to employees
Pros
Flexibility, nice people to work with, a variety of tasks to do so you don't get bored.
Cons
Sometimes Senior Management can be a bit under par and that can make things frustrating. Like promising a deadline to clients that can not possibly be met.
Advice to Senior Management
Get more direction from associates when it comes to their clients, they know them best.
Pros
Casual dress code, laid back atmosphere, good people to work with, good benefits, excellent vacation time
Cons
Zero chance for promotion, get all the money you can when hired. Little stagnant, lack of a training program. Upper management does not communicate very well with staff.
Advice to Senior Management
Give a few promotions! You laid off enough people, you'd think some promotions are finally in order for the ones you kept. Been waiting over 5 years for one.
Pros
Fairly low stress until the layoffs start.
Cons
A very poorly managed company. DST Output now has a well known, well deserved reputation for layoffs. Every few years they decimate large departments. In between the layoffs, they over-hire. A wildly swinging pendulum of hiring and layoffs. Layoffs are conducted like a mafia hit. They call you into an office, let you know, and you are gone that day. Selection for layoffs seems to have no correlation with job performance or competence. Some of the best engineers were let go, while some incompetent engineers were kept on.
Advice to Senior Management
Stop treating jobs and employees as if they are disposable. If layoffs are necessary, then allow the department heads to select the lowest performers to let go first. Don't over-hire.
Pros
A really good place to work for individuals with families, good work life balance, casual atmosphere, mostly friendly colleagues, quiet location.
Cons
Lately, not been a good place for any kind of career advancement, salaries are not comparable, got to know who is who to get recognition.
Advice to Senior Management
Better communication, a bit more open outlook on management, elimination of good old boys type network, and actually paying more..would help the company lots.
Pros
Nice people, Nice work campus. Decent benefits packages. Used to be a fun place to work till the economy took a hit and so did all the activities the company held.
Cons
Dwindling need for the product, job security getting questionable, unknowledgable managment. Low pay for market. Too many "dinosaurs", managment not retiring and letting the newer/younger workers move up. A lot of favortisim to the headquarters in KC.
Advice to Senior Management
Pay the people more money if you want them to do a good job. And if you are unable to offer more pay, recognize the employees for a job well done. No more silly cheap pins, a free lunch or even coffee from the cafe would suffice.
Pros
Okay benefits. Great people to work with.
Cons
paranoid staff due to lay-off news
Pros
I would have said the best reason to work there is the great people you work with, but all those folks have been laid off now.
Cons
Lack of foresight by leadership; associate morale at an all-time low; insultingly low merit increases. It appears to everyone who used to work there and those that still do, that the company is positioning itself to be more attractive to a prospective buyer. Odds are that it will be sold before long.
Advice to Senior Management
Leadership needs to ask the managers at the departmental level what services they must continue to have from other departments in order for them to be successful, and they should do that prior to laying off an entire department.
Pros
The title says it all, 4 or 3 day work weeks with almost a full-time salary.... If you don't mind those days being 12+ hours...
Cons
the industry as a whole is on the decline, cuts and loss of customers is driving DST to be very froogle.
Advice to Senior Management
be honest about pending changes in the workfoce. we all know something going to happen and it makes it worse if you allow rumors to run wild.
