Pros
Pay is competitive. The campus has some benefits: gym, cafeteria, basketball, soccer facilities.
Cons
This is not the place to use cutting edge technology in the IT department. The location is inconvenient for mass transit. Getting tools to do your job is cumbersome.
Advice to Senior Management
Training for core program language, tools and technologies would be better than fluffy, touchy-feely offerings.
Pros
Nice people, Nice work campus. Decent benefits packages. Used to be a fun place to work till the economy took a hit and so did all the activities the company held.
Cons
Dwindling need for the product, job security getting questionable, unknowledgable managment. Low pay for market. Too many "dinosaurs", managment not retiring and letting the newer/younger workers move up. A lot of favortisim to the headquarters in KC.
Advice to Senior Management
Pay the people more money if you want them to do a good job. And if you are unable to offer more pay, recognize the employees for a job well done. No more silly cheap pins, a free lunch or even coffee from the cafe would suffice.
Pros
I would have said the best reason to work there is the great people you work with, but all those folks have been laid off now.
Cons
Lack of foresight by leadership; associate morale at an all-time low; insultingly low merit increases. It appears to everyone who used to work there and those that still do, that the company is positioning itself to be more attractive to a prospective buyer. Odds are that it will be sold before long.
Advice to Senior Management
Leadership needs to ask the managers at the departmental level what services they must continue to have from other departments in order for them to be successful, and they should do that prior to laying off an entire department.
Pros
Great environment. Beautiful facilities to wok. Good staff.
Cons
Job security tied to bottom line of stock performance. Can be frustrating as you cannot plan anything.
Advice to Senior Management
Nothing.
Pros
Full-time, only 3/4 days per week 12hr shift, relatively reliable income. Job is not very physically hard.
Some people even could say: Easy Money!! Easy Money!! Easy Money!! Easy Money!! Easy Money!! Easy Money!! Easy Money!! Easy Money!! Easy Money!! Easy Money!! Easy Money!! Easy Money!! Easy Money!! Easy Money!! Easy Money!! Easy Money!! Easy Money!!
Cons
A lot of hidden and masked unfairness, promotions take very long time to wait, management gives all kinds of excuses for years in order not to give position, even though associate performs duties of this position for several years, receiving salary of preceding position, which is lower.
Advice to Senior Management
Greedy....
Pros
Excellent management. They definitely take care of employees. Lots of opportunities for moving around if you're interested in trying different career paths.
Cons
Commute from Sacramento is long. Company is so large that sometimes getting the "corporate message" out can be cumbersome.
Advice to Senior Management
Keep up the great work.
Pros
DST Output offers many different career paths within the organization.
Cons
The benefits have decreased, like any company there are the usual issues.
Advice to Senior Management
Works towards unity among the different facilities in the country.
