    Very small regional division - no room to grow

    Senior Applications Analyst (Former Employee) Minneapolis, MN

    Pros* Free Snacks every Mon (fruits, veggies, boiled eggs etc.) - this may not happen any longer
    * Cheap metropass (bus) card - only $25 a month
    * Family like environment
    * 100% company paid health and dental insurance for employee

    Cons* No room for advancement what so ever - if you want a promotion, leave. You will never get one
    * Lack of training - most non-daily operation people do not know how to do their job properly
    * Most management folks were promoted internally, no outside experience. Not willing to change
    * Too small (maybe 60+ employees)

    Advice to Senior ManagementTry to promote people who actually has the required skill set. And please train them appropriately.

    TASS LLC was a great company before being acquired by DST

    Great place to start your career

    ProsDST TASS is a great place to begin your career. Many of the job opportunities are entry level in the operations group; these positions offer a great deal of responsibility. If motivated, you have plenty of room to move around.

    There does seem to be a barrier to upper level promotion due to the economic conditions, but the experience from a entry level job translates well into a career in other companies and roles.

    ConsAs I stated earlier, the promotion to the next level up from entry level ismdifficult due to company policies in this economic time period.

    Advice to Senior ManagementMy advice to management is to show your employees that promotion opportunities are available. This is a bit tricky due to the company policies, but it goes a long way with the young talent.

    Typical Financial Operations - Low pay for lots of work

    ProsGreat Benefits - Company pays 100% medical for employee, bus pass program is $25 pre-tax for a 30 day pass

    Employees are intelligent and mostly overqualified

    ConsTypical Operations - Underpaid and heavy workload which causes burnout.

    Economic downturn has affected parent company which caused a company-wide 7% layoff (February 2010). Could be more layoffs coming in 2010 which makes for a tense workplace.

    Large parent company in DST results in massive amounts of red tape to get anything to happen.

    Advice to Senior ManagementThe only reason employees have not yet departed is due to the poor economy. When the economy starts heading in the right direction, prepare to be short-handed.
