    Pros

Great people, and bonuses, growing industry.

    Cons

Behind about 15 years, without pricing pressures companies do not invest in the best resources, talent or technology.

    Advice to Management

Do not continue to promote based on eternal seniority experience outside of utility is what is needed to become the best operated utility company in NA.

    Pros

Nice headquarters downtown and employees seem to be happy.

    Cons

There are many layers of management.

    Advice to Management

Try not to micro-manage employees. Give direction and let them get to work.

    Pros

    Great in-depth training

People-friendly work environment (Supervisors are very helpful with positive attitudes and genuinely want to see everyone do well

    Plenty of room for advancement

    Cons

Sometimes, may not be guaranteed to get the schedule that you want when you are new, however, they can work with you to accommodate your situation.

About 20% of customers complain about their bill, or that they need their power on ASAP, when the power is not in our hands as Customer Service Reps to get it back on ASAP, but we take the heat anyway from the customers.

    Pros

Decent salary, good work environment in the city, enjoyable work.

    Cons

everything about this company is "old school." they do not focus on succession planning or employee development. the majority of the employees are over the age of 50, and the company is in for a rude awakening when the workforce retires. the benefits are "okay" at best, but the company does a good job of keeping you distracted with other incentives.

    Advice to Management

    join the 21st century!

    Pros

Thoughtful, Mature workers who really do want to do a good job everyday at work.

    Cons

Misguided and poor IT Senior management. IT Senior Management has too many type-A personality leaders who make ill-informed decisions that impact everyone below them very negatively. Not much effort to directly engage people in the trenches doing the actual work. Attempt after attempt to rotate new leaders instead of demoting poor leaders. IT Managers get promoted on their ability to hold a microphone and speak, rather on their ability to thoughtfully create a functional organization on all levels.

    Advice to Management

Poor gallup scores really do directly indicate that the management is clueless. Start taking these scores seriously instead of having managers just check a box that they are taking it seriously.

    Pros

Up-to-date facility, engaged with community, cares about customers. Large company but feels like a small family.

    Cons

Not much room for growth and development, good old boys club, compensation is very low for job load and responsibilities. Attracting talent is a high priority, retaining great talent is not a priority at all and leaves a lot of employees disengaged.

    Advice to Management

Follow through with actions, market employee salaries to current state, recognize talent and strength and reward those who deserve it.

  9. Great Company to work for. Very lenient on interns.

    Pros

good pay, learn a skill, good benefits, work with knowledgeable people, good supervisors and upper management. This job can be very rewarding but you must make it to the end to truly reap the benefits.

    Cons

being an apprentice can hard, dirty work, pole climbing, being berated by journeymen is never fun. my advice to future apprentices is, keep your mouth closed and work hard everyday. If you're not a "good ol boy", be prepared to work even harder, you mistakes will be magnified while "others" good unnoticed. Don't get me wrong, most of the guys are good people that want you to learn. but even in 2015 there are those that feel that you don't belong there or you took their nephews job. Even though you've passed all the tests, climbed all of the poles and background checks, you'll still have to prove yourself daily.

    Advice to Management

    good job

    Pros

varied work assignments, many great coworkers, pay is ok for comparative jobs

    Cons

too much work, many coworkers that do next to nothing, too many nonproductive meetings and required activities, time at the company appears to be more important than the quality/quantity of work you are able to complete

    Advice to Management

make your employees feel they are appreciated and part of the team
