    I worked at DTE Energy

    Pros

I was able to pick my schedule and work with some great individuals. I was given the freedom to choose from certain projects to work on and shadow other business organizations in the company.

    Cons

Driving to Detroit was a con. I enjoy being in Detroit and exploring the city, but driving from 45 minutes away each morning was tiring.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Continue to hire interns. I had a great experience and learned quite a bit about various topics that will help me with my future career.

I have been working at DTE Energy full-time (more than 8 years)

    Pros

Great people. Great culture. Corporate citizenship. Force for growth in downtown Detroit. Excellent programs for vulnerable customers to help pay their bills. Focus on customer satisfaction, reliability, continuous improvement, health and safety. Very good flexibility, benefits, time-off policy and overall compensations.

    Cons

Growth in IT is largely dependent on who you know vs. what you know.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Keep up the great work with customer satisfaction. Need greater focus on employee engagement within IT.

I worked at DTE Energy as an intern (less than a year)

    Pros

A lot of Freedom, can do your work at your pace as long as you complete it by the deadline.

    Cons

I didnt like having to deal with customers whose power I had to turn off. It was very difficult and sad. Another con of the job was having to worry about dogs and bees when you restore or disconnect some ones power.

I worked at DTE Energy as an intern (less than a year)

    Pros

    Great Company, pay, multicultural workplace

    Cons

traveling, no flexible hours for interns

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

DTE should have a better intern program. Interviewer should thoroughly review resumes before hiring interns or have an amazing training session or a mentor. Not just throwing them in and having them work on pesky projects. When I found work in the power plant (related to the degree I'm pursuing as Mechanical Engineer), I got yelled at by my manager - that I barely saw the few months I was working there - and was accused of stealing the companys' time because I was not sitting in a cold office at my desk doing nothing. But that's just my bad experience.
