Former Employee – worked at DaVita full-time for more than 7 years
Pros – The company is fun and steps out of the box in it's fun good time atmosphere. The people are nice and the company culture is inviting.
Cons – The company culture isn't enough to stand on. While I was there my department's leadership team went way downhill. 6 years ago I had supervisors and managers that really went to bat for you and were interested in your progress and development as an employee. As I was leaving my supervisor used the words "I don't care" to describe his feelings towards my development.
Advice to Senior Management – Numbers are important but that is not the only measure of success. If your people are pulling their hair out and all scrambling to find other jobs you're doing it wrong no matter what your numbers say. Your money would be better spent getting and keeping quality employees instead of on parties. Make decisions on where a job must be based before it's posted. Twice I was denied jobs I'd already interviewed for due to being in the wrong location because the decision wasn't made until after the job was posted and interviews were almost done.

Former Employee – worked at DaVita full-time for more than a year
Pros – Casual attire, some work from home, some flex hours
Cons – Low salary, lame benefits, no technical direction. Force you to drink the corporate kool-aid. Actually force it down your throat.
Advice to Senior Management – Putting all of your eggs in one basket is a good way to fail.

Former Employee – worked at DaVita full-time for more than 7 years
Pros – Company is open to working remote and team gatherings. Lots of fun at national team meetings.
Cons – While embracing the latest technology and the ability to work remotely, the management in this company is very backward thinking and counterproductive. Lots of good-ole boy types in management. If you aren't in their "click" then your chances of advancement or raises is in jeopardy.
Advice to Senior Management – Upper management should evaluate the performance of management and tie these evaluations into raises. More oversight is needed for mid-level management. Evaluations from employees should be taken more seriously and based on those evaluations, changes should be made to not only improve management but overall morale of each department.

Current Employee – been working at DaVita full-time for more than 3 years
Pros – Good co-workers, Frequent company events, Flexible hours, Good supervisor
Cons – No 401-K, Profit sharing is a joke, no career advancement, unrealistic expectations set by management, ZERO training, severely understaffed, poor raises, will exploit talent unrelated to the job and will not compensate for it.
Advice to Senior Management – Reduce turnover by hiring quality people and paying the a decent wage. You are spending more on productivity losses from high turnover. It's sad that team leads can leave DaVita for another entry level job at another company and make 20% more.

Current Employee – been working at DaVita full-time for more than a year
Pros – Work is autonomous, interesting job, independent decision making. Fairly flexible schedule. Most nurses work as a team.
Cons – Very low pay for the amount of responsibility, unskilled management, upper management are all male. Address the adult work force like children with their cartoon character educational programs.
Advice to Senior Management – Low to mid management are unprofessional. Train the and chose the clinic managers more carefully as they are the people running the business on a daily basis. Less money spent on parties and Davita cheer leading classes and more pay please.

Current Employee – been working at DaVita full-time for more than 10 years
Pros – Some management is great, others are terrible-it's luck of the draw. Vacation/PTO (sick) time is excellent. They offer continuing education reimbursement. The President/CEO of the Company (Kent Thiry) is great and motivates everyone to do their best and work on common values/mission. It can be a fun place to work.
Cons – Poor pay, too many hours, moderate turnover leaves us working extra to cover for open positions on an on-going basis. One of the Senior Vice President's of Operations in the Midwest is very unprofessional, cusses, yells at teammates and continues to keep his job for many years.
Advice to Senior Management – Spend less on parties and fun events and distribute more to the teammates for the hard work and long hours we put in. Under my previous manager, I was getting great raises and reviews but under the current manager, I've gotten one raise in 3 years.

Current Employee – been working at DaVita full-time for more than 10 years
Pros – The Culture, the people I work with(for the most part), Stable environment. Healthcare package is reasonably priced. It's a laid back fun place to work.
Cons – Benefits package not very competitive, salary is less than average, health benefits coverage stinks, no matching 401k, as with most places the political machine is alive and well. Because of the weak pay, they lose out on talented people. - average is accepted as great. Most of the people in lower leadership positions have no clue what they are doing.
Advice to Senior Management – Shell out a few more bucks for people that know how to get things done. Stop promoting people based off of popularity. Stick to the core values
