    Pros

Great Co-Workers, There is always food in the office.

    Cons

Horrible benefits, no 401K matching, Almost impossible to obtain a new position within your department, No career guidance you almost feel stuck in your current position. When you receive a raise and/or promotion you receive change increase. Since I've worked here I haven't receive no more than a $0.50 increase and that seemed like it was pushing it.

    I worked at DaVita

    Pros

Most of the "teammates" are great people that I still keep in touch with... the building is beautiful and located in Downtown Denver. That sums it up!

    Cons

Most of the executives are elitists which in turn produces a very insincere, insecure and cutthroat culture. This company really is a reflection of "all that is wrong with America"... let's see... There was a huge settlement (pocket change to DaVita) related to blatant fraud where DaVita took advantage of taxpayer dollars... if you are a minority of color applying and you make it to an in-person interview for a corporate position - what you see is what you get - #WhitePrivilige #NoDiversity... compensation is out of whack throughout the organization (aka - income inequality). Do yourself a favor and do not walk across the bridge... just say "Noooo DaVitaaaa".

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

A focus on hiring for diversity will conquer the elitist atmosphere you currently have in the corporate office.

Davita-a Great Place to Work (as long as you are not a floor nurse)

I have been working at DaVita full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

    wonderful training program
the possibility of a work schedule that will allow you to have time off from work every week
continuing education specific to dialysis and Davita; it is mandatory for all employees

    Cons

distinct lack of respect for the most important and hardest worker of the healthcare provider team! (floor nurse)
unrealistic expectations of the floor nurse
working side by side with Patient Care Technicians; some who are like badly-behaved children in adult bodies
lack of support by management for the floor nurses

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Take a good look at your nurses. Most of the time, anyone who made the decision to become a nurse in the first place is going to have certain character traits that you will simply not find in other employees. These would include a strong moral sense of right and wrong, honesty, a great work ethic, intelligence, perseverance, and dedication. You should recognize that nurses are AMAZING. However, many (not all) nurses are also not especially assertive and perhaps even non-confrontational and unfortunately, they are often taken advantage of. I have noticed that kindness is commonly perceived as weakness. Managers may then be tempted to choose understaffing as their first line choice in addressing a problematic monthly clinic budget. But people are not cans of soup! Keep that in mind when you expect your charge nurse to take a full "tech" assignment of initiating treatment on 4 patients before she can even start her own responsibilities as a nurse! So while a patient sitting in seat #8 is having chest pain and needs immediate attention, the nurse, who SHOULD be able to assess him immediately, is busy cannulating some other patient's access and/or setting up a dialysis machine. If you are thinking "Well, one of the patient care technicians will help," you are wrong. The patient care technicians don't even have the same qualities as the nurses. So even though the tech sees this going on, he/she will not want to help; mainly because he/she is focused on her own assignment and upcoming breakfast break. Yes, I know that there are exceptions-some of the techs are just wonderful. I'm just telling you like it is. So go ahead-keep burning out your nurses. But don't be upset when YOU have to work Christmas Day, because your wonderful staff nurse resigned 2 weeks ago....
