I have been working at DaVita

    Pros

Davita has great core values .

    Cons

The helpdesk atmosphere is not friendly. Everything is based off numbers, thirty minute lunch, no flexible hours.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Find ways to increase morale. Maybe think about more flexibility with schedule. Better performance recognition.

I have been working at DaVita

    Pros

Where I live there are only 2 major players in the dialysis industry. DaVita and Fresenius. Comparatively, DaVita is the best of the two when it comes down to managing your workload. We have good, well trained staff that work effectively as a team. Now with that being said, I was not able to work at the unit 5 miles from my home due to being offered a base wage that you would expect to be paid just starting out in dialysis. I have 16 years of experience. So after being told that was the max per the "company scale" that I could be paid, I had already interviewed with an alternate facility (still DaVita) that was able to meet my salary requirement. Don't be afraid to negotiate your worth.

    Cons

With past employment with DaVita in other states I have only experienced the usual "cons" found in most dialysis jobs. ... people call in sick at the last minute, management and/or charge doesn't help cover the floor when needed, too much gossip between staff and patients. I currently have not seen anything of the sorts at this location.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

We all understand you have a bottom line and budget, but you also have a staff that helps you keep your numbers in line. It should go hand in hand, paying staff their worth and you will always have an employee that is loyal to you and the company. One that feels underpaid will only bide their time and find a better paying job elsewhere or possibly not provide good patient care.

I worked at DaVita (more than 3 years)

    Pros

Benefits are great, fellow co workers are great to work with. Upper management is entrenched and don't listen

    Cons

Revolving door should be installed in the accounting department., The nursing staff is darling of the corporation.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

It's not just the facilities that need your attention.

    I worked at DaVita

    Pros

What they say there mission is to both employees and patients

    Cons

Complete upper mismanagement, low pay, employee evils months late and no raises. Upper management in Houston should be replaced. If it were a public traded company, shareholders would fire them all.

I have been working at DaVita

    Pros

Flexible schedule, great teammates, additional benefits (ie. Theme park discounts and pet insurance), active community participation (ie. kidney education and fundraising for awareness)

    Cons

Frequently absent Facility Administrator (FA), micromanaging assistant FA, favoritism, demanding schedule, office contact during off hours, nurses held in higher regard than office workers, can be difficult to balance work and personal life

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Look closely at the middle management and how they ate allocating their money, especially when budgets aren't met. Financial audits could be beneficial. Beware of the employee that seems to say all the right things.

I worked at DaVita full-time (more than 8 years)

    Pros

Very structured company, there is no question about your job role. Since the company is international there is great support even for the smallest clinic!

    Cons

Early work hours, be there by 5am, but out by 4 on a good day. If your clinic doesn't have an evening, 3rd, shift you may be there until 8pm or later.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    None.
