I have been working at Daimler full-time (more than an year)

    Pros

Good pay, good hours, good bonus, good benefits.
Amazing opportunities to travel and interact with people from different cultures.
Good car perks if you are interested.
    Tuition reimbursement

    Cons

The different entities in the U.S are separate legal entities and do not always coordinate well across all the business. Health, Bonus, vehicle program and other benefits do not transfer from entity to entity. In addition, access to to information regarding positions in other Daimler companies within the U.S is not always easily available. Considerable effort will be required on the employee to manage your movement between organization if you choose to expand your opportunities within a different Daimler company in the U.S.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Top down, company should be more open to different ways of thinking.

I worked at Daimler as a contractor (less than an year)

    Pros

I only worked at Daimler for a few months as an IBM contractor. I wasn't there long enough to get a fair impression of the advantages. They had a generous work from home policy, but in all other regards the work environment seemed essentially identical to most technical companies.

    Cons

The office environment and IT structure was badly neglected and outdated due to many years of austerity. Daimler contracted IBM to upgrade the IT infrastructure, and IBM subsequently hired temp contractors through yet another contracting agency. This multi-tiered reporting structure was the worst contracting agreement I’ve ever encountered. The morale in the group was horrible, turnover was high, and the on-site IBM management contradicted the Daimler management. I worked very hard on this contract, but after four months I was fired without any advance notice and without recourse to appeal or adjust my work performance & behavior. Unfortunately, my situation was not unique. The Daimler manager was in a state of perpetual stress and barely contained panic, while the IBM manager was detached and generally clueless. I’m sure other departments at Daimler may be fine, and it may be a completely different experience for regular full-time Daimler employees, but if you are offered a contract position at Daimler then proceed at your own risk.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Fire the IBM team and either hire full time employees or manage contract workers yourself. IBM is only concerned with protecting their over-priced contract, and they are not looking out for the long-term interests of Daimler.

    I worked at Daimler full-time

    Pros

I received lots of management support to carry my job. I have worked with some great people. Good benefit (holidays, bonuses, free events etc). Low work pressure (the company has high margin and a premium brand name)

    Cons

Slow promotion, bureaucratic, some people are lazy (you might find that few people are actually working). Bosses are more concerned about how to promote themselves than about the company

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Layers of management has hindered productivity. Neither organizational structure or process is top notch among MNCs.

I have been working at Daimler as an intern (less than an year)

    Pros

People, international opportunities, and flexibility. A lot of different projects to participate in. I feel they respect everyone's opinion and thoughts throughout the completion of projects.

    Cons

A lot of meetings. Sometimes hard to fully understand what you are suppose to do due to inconsistencies in communication. I feel that they start a lot of projects and never fully finish them due to the start of other projects.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Pros

they really are hands on with everything, worked closely with the manager and team and learned a lot. also there were company outings which were fun.

    Cons

worked you really hard, didn't get paid much working as an intern, not many benefits. also management was also really tough, meetings constantly.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

stop working your interns so hard, they try to hire from within but so many get pissed off with management they just end up declining
