I have been working at Dairy Queen

    Pros

We are all separately owned, and I lucky enough at hired at with the highest pay. They are also very flexible with hours and there is minimum labor.

    Cons

It gets quite difficult to keep a smile on your face throughout the entire shift, and it is hard with it being a requirement.

It's been pretty nice working at DQ but it is hard and fast paced.

I have been working at Dairy Queen part-time (less than a year)

    Pros

I think it is a very good place for a first job because they give you room to learn and grow and they are very understanding.

    Cons

There might be drama here and there between co-workers but in the end everyone loves eachother and we all have fun while getting covered in ice cream.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

I would really like to see people getting equal hours of work. At my DQ there's people that got more hours than others and some of us have bills to pay so we need more hours. I'd give everyone equal hours so that there isn't the idea of "he's better than you so he gets to work more" type of thing.

I worked at Dairy Queen full-time

    Pros

Working for one of their Dairy Queen stores can be a good opportunity. There are great people mixed in there and for being fast food, its a fun restaurant.

    Cons

Owners are very promising about career advancements and job perks. Once they get you where they want you in their company, you mean nothing to them. Money is all they care about. Very two-faced to employees.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Treat your employees better and you will see a lot better results.

I have been working at Dairy Queen

    Pros

Always something to do, love intracting with the customers, flexible scheduling and making sandwiches.

    Cons

Dealing with diffuclted customers and closing a monstrous sandwich.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Hire people who want to work and care about work. Make sure Subway rules are enforce and watch employees more carefully.

    I worked at Dairy Queen

    Pros

Had great work life balance working part time during college. I made a solid minimum wage which was awesome. yay.

    Cons

i made minimum wage cooking and cleaning stuff, which was overall not great. but that's pretty much what you should expect working in fast food.

  9.

I worked here for 5 years and was of value, but never moved up, due to other people asking first.

I worked at Dairy Queen part-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

I started when I was 15 and involved in school, DQ was very flexible with my schedule. I also received a raise every summer I came back to work when I went off to college. I came back two summers and they honored that. The building was clean and the work was easy.

    Cons

There was so much drama it was ridiculous. I know it was mostly high school students working there, but the majority of the drama came from within the management.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Limit the drama. And it's Dairy Queen, not a 5-star restaurant. There is no reason to run it as such. Keep it clean and keep being nice to customers but stop being so anal about literally every little thing.

I have been working at Dairy Queen

    Pros

Not a bad environment. Freedom of being left on your own. Free food.

    Cons

Lots of bs and not always getting paid for your hard work. Doing the job of cashier waitress and cook simultaneously and not really getting tips.

    I worked at Dairy Queen

    Pros

The people were great. Honestly that's about the only thing that I can say I liked about it.

    Cons

Long hours, no air conditioning which made for ice cream melting the second you give it to someone, extremely busy, drama, would always go home covered in ice cream and smell like nasty food.
