DISD offers tremendous opportunities if you work hard for students.

Teacher, Department Head, Coach (Former Employee)
Dallas, TX

I worked at Dallas Independent School District full-time for more than 3 years

ProsDISD has amazing students, and I believe they have the right leadership in place now. The district suffered previously from some corrupt leaders. Excellent growth opportunities if you network and lead your students to gains.

ConsLong hours if you do your job right, but the children make it worth it. Pay for performance money began to run out, and I do not know where they stand on this now.

Advice to Senior ManagementEnsure your principals are ethical people motivating their staff in the right ways. Teachers like clear expectations and transparent leadership.

My experience at Dallas Independent School District.

Sub-teacher (Former Employee)
Dallas, TX

I worked at Dallas Independent School District part-time for more than 5 years

ProsMy best reasons for working with the district. {1} Enjoyed working with the kids and staff. {2} I also felt like I had a purpose in the community.

ConsThe various teachers lay-offs. And the news rules that have been in place.

Advice to Senior ManagementKeep up the good work with the limited funds that you do have.

Most Corrupt Place - Pure Hell

Teacher (Former Employee)
Dallas, TX

I worked at Dallas Independent School District full-time for more than 3 years

ProsThere are so many students who want and need a good education.

ConsCorruption; ineffectual education system; student/teacher/administrator apathy.

Advice to Senior ManagementI left the business world to try and help education. My 1st year, the district's Technology Administration intended to steal all of the brand new computer equipment put in every Webmastering, Computer Science and Multimedia classroom in the district. I stopped them from stealing mine and completely blew their cover. Instead of them getting fired, they put me through hell. I fought to save my job because I cared about the students, but they (teachers, admin, central staff) only cared about their own self-interests. I support the new Superintendent who has been firing teachers and administrators, because they are corrupt and ineffective.

Before the new superintended life at Dallas was great!

Elementary Teacher (Current Employee)
Dallas, TX

I have been working at Dallas Independent School District full-time for more than 5 years

ProsThe staff was great to work with. Salary is ok! Insurance is OK!

ConsStudents are out of control! They hold teachers accountable for everything. No one else is accountable only teachers. Teachers haven't had a raise in over 6 years and students behavior is horrible!

Advice to Senior ManagementGet your act together before you loose quality teachers!
