I worked at Dallas Metrocare Services full-time (more than a year)

    Pros

Position gives much experience with mental disorders, and community issues such as poverty and homelessness. The position offered the opportunity to receive contact clinical hours for certification from the state. On some days, better than being broke and unemployed.

    Cons

Severe lack of training for new and existing employees. Upper management has no real knowledge of what underlings do, and are completely out of touch with employees and clients. Overworked and burned out staff, not enough incentive to keep going. Poor retention of staff after receiving hours for certification. Low morale and even lower pay scale. Must constantly watch your back, since management will get rid of you for low productivity rates, even when it isn't your fault, such as when clients don't come for their appointments. Coworkers feel pressure to falsely report their numbers, and so much fraud is committed, and goes unchecked. Work and life balance?!? That was non-existent there. Atmosphere at many clinics was ripe for a major uprising from clients, as the process was slow to get in for an appointment, and waiting was even worse, as all types of people were left wandering around, and no one ever knew what someone was capable of doing.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Train your new employees, and don't feed them to the wolves. Keep updating current employees, especially on utilization review. No one knows how to do this, and negative feedback gets frustrating and adds to low morale. Offer real incentives for loyalty to the company. Give time off for employees to maintain their own mental health, without having it negatively impacting their productivity. Investigate employees who are "padding" their productivity numbers (benchmarks), and punish accordingly; however, don't assert so much pressure that employees feel they have no other choice.

I worked at Dallas Metrocare Services full-time (more than a year)

    Pros

You will get very good experience working at Metrocare Services. If you can work here, you can work anywhere. Flexible scheduling is a plus. I also enjoyed my co-workers that I worked with. I also really loved the clients that I got to serve. Metrocare would be a great place to work if it had better management and a less stressful benchmark.

    Cons

All the upper management cares about is making your benchmark. They don't care about quality, they only care about quantity. There were people who worked there that did a horrible job with the clients, but because they made bench they were able to keep their jobs. The job was extremely stressful and they offered low wages.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Learn to put yourself in your employees shoes and learn to care about quality not quantity.
