I worked at Danfoss Drives North America full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Clean office - Clean bathrooms...that's about it.

    Cons

HR will take anything you report to them and turn it around on you. They will then try to get you/force you to quit for rocking the boat.

    Advice to Management

Pay attention to what is going on, and also, learn how to speak and spell properly.

    Pros

Nice looking company, great IT department

    Cons

No urgency to complete projects, horrible communication, no clear plan for business. If anything goes wrong, blame the employee not the business plan. Some business plans have resulted in numerous sackings. Kind of telling when four competent managers have been unable to succeed in a row, get fired, yet the flawed business plan remains in place.

    Advice to Management

Take some business classes at the local community college. That will give you more education than you have now.

Hire, Fire, Hire, Fire, Repeat. Not a long term employer.

I have been working at Danfoss Drives North America full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Decent pay, benefits, lots and lots of company parties and days off. Acceptable workplace conditions.

    Cons

Management has no clue as to how to be a success in North America. Danish management dislikes customers, treats them badly. The biggest problem is the employment revolving door. Constantly hiring and firing people, changing job descriptions for essentially the same job. More than 30 people have been hired and fired in Loves Park over 5 years, but new jobs seem to be created all the time. Constant shell game of eliminating a job, then recreating the same job under a different name.

    Advice to Management

Develop a game plan to manage the company and to be a success which does not involve the constant firing squads roaming the halls to eliminate employees to give the illusion of a change of business philosophy.

I worked at Danfoss Drives North America full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Danfoss has a solid reputation for drives and power electronics and makes good products. Great pay, benefits, work environment, balance of life to work. Leadership is acceptable, and the company has had some great years of development in the US over the past decade. Overall, a great work experience in terms of the overall business, work environment and co-worker interaction.

    Cons

Quality and customer satisfaction are after-thoughts to the original sale. Get the money, and figure out the rest later, except it never gets figured out. The standard business is stable and well thought out, but the customized and solar business are not healthy business segments and not lead by capable managers. Lots of excuses to deflect responsibility for business failures- the market is soft, financial accounting is inaccurate, etc. The real problem is a lack of clear vision for the business, and lack of management accountability for P&L management. Communication is terrible from Denmark to the US, and the standard business in the US wants nothing to do with the customized business. In many ways, the customized business and standard business compete with each other, thereby duplicating or negating many sales efforts. The customized business also suffers from lack of engineering and manufacturing resources, so completing any project is nearly impossible. The standard business is much more solid, more well thought out, has more talented management.

    Advice to Management

Cancel the customized business experiment and concentrate on the core standard business.
