    Great exposure, bad management

    Project Engineer (Former Employee)
    Beirut (Lebanon)

ProsGreat exposure and cutting edge projects to work on, some of the higher salaries in Lebanon, pretty respectable structure of the company.

ConsNo talent management whatsoever, you get lost in the system and therefore only get promoted out of work experience years.

Advice to Senior ManagementTalent management is of utmost importance, along side developing entry level engineers.

    Dar Al-Handasah in Lebanon

    Anonymous Employee (Former Employee)
    Beirut (Lebanon)

ProsExposure to high-scale projects in the Middle East and Africa. Good salaries with frequent salary adjustments and bonuses. Nice and casual atmosphere overall.
The best point is that it boosts one's professional profile and is very well viewed on the CV.

ConsDAR is a school and tends to have its own way of doing things, which means that work can easily become routine and there is not much room for creativity after a few years of work.
Team work is also not one of DAR's strongest points.

Advice to Senior ManagementImprove team spirit. Try to be creative in project execution and development.

good place to start as a fresh graduate

    Electrical Engineer (Former Employee)
    Beirut (Lebanon)

Pros- good salary with respect to other Lebanese design firm
    - top 10 design firm globally
    - good technical experience for those interested in gaining one

Cons- stresses on staying overtime hours to finish some of the unnecessary work
    - your experience depends on the team you are working with which depends on your luck
    - the telecom department is not well-organized and no valuable experience is gained if one's working there

Advice to Senior ManagementStart giving the engineers higher intensives to stay in order to decrease the high turn over rate that is due to all the fresh graduates coming and staying for two years and then quitting. Giving higher bonuses or paid overtime hours could be beneficial to the teams there.

Industry Giant, Bulk work, lack of innovation, a low quality design firm, focuing on 3rd world projects

    Architect (Former Employee)
    Cairo (Egypt)

ProsA good choice for a long term career, benefits may be felt only if working with the company for at least 15 years. The company has an ability to produce huge buildings and engineering projects in a very rapid manner, a big company with good reputation.

ConsLow salaries, endless working hours, no overtime compensation, six days of work one day holiday, occasionally holidays are a working days, no bonuses raises are very low, very low experience gain due to to the nature of the job and the number of employees tasks will be naturally very small, traveling to work in remote offices is not a choice, travel compensation is extremely low compared to other industry giants.

Advice to Senior ManagementPlease focus more on research aspects, use modern management techniques and pay attention to your employees, after all corporate slavery in highest in 3rd world countries.

As bridge engineer on haramain high speed rail project.

    Project Engineer (Current Employee)
    Jeddah (Saudi Arabia)

ProsReputation of the comapany in local market is good, salary structure is above average and personal matters are dealt in acceptable manner.

ConsOccasionally some nationality or a group dominates in some particular project, then the work environment gets destroyed. you face stupid people sitting in senior positions and irritating you on daily basis.

Advice to Senior ManagementSelection criteria to fill all the positions must be made more strict and task oriented, especially the management positions in every project should be filled through better screening and aptitude analysis.
