I have been working at Darden part-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

Great place to work if you have the right management, I'm a server at Olive Garden and have been here for 4 years.

    Cons

A bad manager who doesnt know what they are doing can ruin a restaurant very quickly. If your boss is always and angry andin a bad mood, good luck having a good time at work for that shift.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Dont lose your temper, it really effects everyones mood.

I have been working at Darden

    Pros

A great company with wonderful concept chains. The last week for Manager trainee training was the most memorable. You met very brilliant minds in the company and excited trainees like yourself. Olive Garden is catching up the the times. The new slogan, the overall redesigned looks forward thinking with now. Wonderful perks and benefits and an exceptional service staff, once you have great leadership.

    Cons

Here is where it goes poorly, a few bad apples... You know the rest. General Managers who are rarely present at work, when they are present lack motivation to empower the crewmembers. Hiring people you know personally, lways back fires. Promoting individuals who obvious should not be on the management. Those same managers don't follow company policy and create their own. Which is illegal at times, break many labor laws. There is lack of positive guidance, lack of empowering leadership. Just the blame game to others and no responsibilities or ownership. Not sure if the other concepts are like this but bottom line Olive Garden life feels alot like a sewer.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Take responsibility and ownership. Grow up. Follow Darden policies, it has a true purpose. Build up you team. Stop cutting the heart out of the restaurant down. Treat every staff member with respect. They are not all liars, thieves or always trying to get one over on the managers. The average person spends more time at work than where they want to be, enjoying their personal time. I am one manager who cares about my crew and the betterment of the management team. Its beneficial to work together than making it an environment of us versus them. Don't worry you will get you bonuses!!

I have been working at Darden part-time (more than a year)

    Pros

    -Great flexible schedules
-Great for students as part time jobs
-Easily able to receive days off

    Cons

-Stress does come from time to time
    -No hourly base pay

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

I believe management should focus on connecting with their employees and train their managers to make their employees feel proud of their work environment. I also believe restaurant managers should have higher privileges to advertise locally and Darden shall take drastic changes in modernizing their restaurants.
