I have been working at Darden part-time (more than an year)

    Pros

Pretty decent money during the summer and around holidays.
Fun smart staff (with the exception of management)

    Cons

    Rude clientele, unreasonable management
Slow times are unbearably slow, make less than $10 during a shift
    Requesting off is not possible

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Not unified, all looking out for themselves like most managers.

    I worked at Darden

    Pros

Co-workers were all around my age so it could be fun at times. Moving from restaurant to restaurant was easy which can be great.

    Cons

poor management, miscommunications were common. Management just acted immature. They would gossip behind people's backs.

    Pros

Used to be a lot, but not anymore

    Cons

Compensation, bonus structure, many leadership opportunities

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Management is 100% accountable for the team member experience. Senior leadership should be held accountable for their team member experience as well "Managers/GM'S"

I have been working at Darden full-time (more than an year)

    Pros

Lot's of structure and deep pockets, they won't disappear overnight and they will always pay you on time.

    Cons

They pride themselves on offering benefits to hourly employees. Yes they offer the opportunity to pay a monthly premium in return for reduced outlay when you visit a doctor but the hospital coverage has a lifetime out of pocket payout ceiling that would not begin to cover a serious injury, accident or illness. The company is highly structured lauds its training programs but the people quality of management is questionable and the overall ethics by which they share and distribute the wealth are dubious. Pay is notoriously lower than industry standard. They expect more than they are willing to pay or provide for in return.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Consider offering health benefits that would actually cover a serous illness. Don't rely on the charity of your hourly employees to provide for medical emergencies that your insurance programs will not cover. Pay a fair wage. Pay attention to the people in your employ not just the numbers.

    Pros

Laidback management that is not too hard on the employees and lets them work without interference from the higher ups.

    Cons

No real cons as my experience as a server. It was always straightforward and depending on the Darden restaurant, the management might want you to go the extra mile and present the food in a certain manner but thats not bad at all.

I worked at Darden full-time (more than 8 years)

    Pros

Management team is awesome. The benefits are very good, especially the insurance option, which is great. Starting pay for management and bonus potential is great. Flexible working hours, so if you're a student, a parent or have another job management will work within your availability. Have a lot of money to back up their vision.

    Cons

Can be difficult working with guests, as with all other food service jobs. Managers can work long hours with no praise and little to no appreciation. All stores are corporate so you answer to people you may not even know, which means little room for mistakes---I think they forget, or never knew in the first place, what it's like to actually work at the store level.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Management in the restaurants should be listened to more often when decisions affecting the restaurant are made. Corporate needs to consider the advice, opinions and viewpoints of the store managers.

    Pros

Its pretty good working for them just because you never have to stay there for a ridiculous amount of time. Most shifts are between 4 and 5 hours.

    Cons

You don't make very good tips because you can only take 3 tables at a time.
