    Pros

In general nice people to work with.

    Cons

Senior managers and cooperative owners try to often to hit a home run by management changes. They fail 70% of the time.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

I have been working at Darigold full-time (more than an year)

    Pros

Compensations was very good for the actual work completed.

    Cons

Sexism and racism runs rampant throughout the company. There were several times I should have filed sexual harassment suits, but I let it go because I didn't want to deal with the fallout. Management could also do a better job of communicating with employees, especially ones who care. I understand that some things need to be kept from employees to keep a good work ethic, but when there are obvious issues and management seems to just be happy-go-lucky and saying everything is ok, there is an issue.

I have been working at Darigold

    Pros

Company wants to do the right thing, but never seems to make a profit to be able to pay for it.

    Cons

Board of Directors hired outside consulting firm and reviewing operation. Likely means major changes for the company in the near future. Would stay away from new opportunities with them until the coming cuts are done.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Don't be afraid of change.

    Pros

Good people, good products, good quality. Lots of friends i like to work with. New manager team working on long standing issues with fillers and casers.

    Cons

Hard to overcome history of poor managers. Some old guard still complaining.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Fix schedule for some departments. Don't listen to former managers disciples. Keep fixing equipment and communicate what we need to do to get better.

I have been working at Darigold full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

There were a lot of benefits for me. I moved up quickly from training to be a supervisor to supervisor to production planner all within a couple years. The pay has been good especially for someone right out of college. The benefits are very good.

    Cons

They expect a lot of out you as far as hours goes, but that is just the way that the production type facilities work. Working nights is no fun, but put in your time and even that goes away for the most part.

    Pros

My fellow workers are cool, we make good products, and the factery has been in business a long time.

    Cons

Some people who were friends with management before are bitter. Workspace is tight with a lot of machines.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

I would like to here more about how the plant is doing. More meetings to communicate what needs to get done. I like that kids, family and friends of former management are no longer getting all the good jobs and all the good schedules.

I have been working at Darigold full-time (more than 8 years)

    Pros

Free milk and samples of cheeses. Holiday turkey meal

    Cons

If you like superficial come here. Take a look at the Supply Chain group. Amazing. That is one of the many dysfunctional groups in this company. People cannot communicate at all in that group or other groups. They walk down the hallway with their iPhones plugged in to avoid eye contact and conversations with other workers. Leadership has no social skills nor do any of his team members. If you want to join a team like this...go for it. It is a dead end. I have been trying to leave this place for years now....no luck...I am stuck here for the rest of my life. I have wasted my life. No one will hire me because Darigold has such a terrible reputation out there in the market place. Don't make the same mistake as me. Avoid this company like Ebola.

Current Employee - Quality Assurance Laboratory Technician in Boise, ID

I have been working at Darigold full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

The wages are good compared to similar jobs in the area.
    Benefits are also good.
There will be an opportunity to be part of The Darigold Divorce Club.

    Cons

    Dysfunctional culture. Extremely negative workplace.
Hours make it very difficult on family life.
    Nepotism/Favoritism is very common.
The best candidate for a promotional position is rarely chosen.
Management has already selected their favorite candidate for a position before conducting interviews.
    You will be lied to.
Supervisors will make promises just to keep you there.
You will be allowed to fail so your supervisor can save their own neck.
Unfulfilled promises lead to employee frustration and self destruction.
Bad safety record. Someone is always getting hurt.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Change the culture of the organization.
Invest in employees. They sacrifice a great deal to work for you.
Wages only make a small contribution to employee happiness.
Put people first. Families are extremely important to your workers.
Learn how to schedule your workforce.
Don't lie to people as a retention strategy.
    Invest in people.
Develop a standardized training program for every position.

Current Employee - Worker in Chehalis, WA

I have been working at Darigold full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

Benefits is probably best in the area

    Cons

Poor management: when you're on the team, you have it. When you're a worker, you don't know nothing. In the meantime management thinks they know it all and they will let you know. Lately from corporate many new policies in place driving working nuts and production down. Turnover is high, experience leaves, newbies stay.... for awhile. And then they wonder why we can't run the equipment.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Eliminate two groups culture. Management can't run the plant without workers, get that in your head! Your education is not a guarantee that you know how things run. Grow your workers!
But maybe this is all talking to the wind, because I am not one of the team, so you don't have to listen to me. Sorry so bitter, but that is how I feel.
