    Pros

Employees are respected have direct access to senior management. Flexible work hours and a commitment to work-life balance. Opportunities to gain experience working on a diverse range of tasks and projects. Every employee can make real contributions to the future direction and success of the company.

    Cons

Lack of top-down long-term goal setting by management contributes to uncertainty and frustration among some employees. Other difficulties for a small company in an industry dominated by a few large companies.

    Pros

Non-political atmosphere, with tone set from the CEO on down.
Lots of very smart people capable of doing great things.
Strong use of Open Source tools, but with "bigger company" processes scaled appropriately to match need.

    Cons

Trying to move beyond SBIR-funded projects.
Too dependent on limited funding sources, at least for today.
(This problem does not only apply to DataSoft, but other small companies)

    Advice to Management

Find a "killer app" or two to harness the technical capabilities of the company. Look beyond defense. Unclear that the Engineering Services model (non-job shop) is feasible.

    Pros

If one is just starting out, he/she should work for them. May it be programming or analysis or marketing, you will get a lot of perspective and knowledge on various fields. They put responsibility on you and hence you get better.

    Cons

Politics is always bad, and its also destroying this company. Good guys are worn down and the ones who rule the head of the team leads or boss go up.

    Advice to Management

Get rid of the bullies and just not the cash focus on product too.
