I have been working at Datamonitor full-time

    Pros

Great benefits, including flexible working, good data sources and great people to work with. Great central London location so easy access with public transport in addition to surrounding places for lunch

    Cons

Career development not a key focus, with training specific to the subscription side of the business. Unclear strategy and continued restructures. Also pay is below market rate with very little moment on it being re-evaluated yearly

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Career development needs to have greater focus and transparency in regards to future outlook

I worked at Datamonitor full-time (more than a year)

    Pros

Great training provided by experienced managers

    Cons

No room for creativity. would not listen to any feedback. would not appreciate feedback which was directly from clients. Closed any door to allow the sales team improve the product. Would not offer any flexibility with pricing because they believed every company is as large as FTSE 100. If anyone wanted to complain they would say "doors are open, you can leave".

In general, they mistreated everyone in the most politicaly correct manner.... I have never hated a company and its arrogant senior management as much as i did in my last few months there.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

managers continue working for the interest of developing your people, senior management: get real and look at what you have done to the business....

Former Employee - Account Manager in London, England (UK)

I worked at Datamonitor full-time (more than a year)

    Pros

relaxed environment, micro-mgmt isn't excessive, flexible working conditions, good company benefits

    Cons

targets unachievable given bad reputation of dm service & substandard products, as a result comm's low, there's budget to blow on team outings (read copious drinking) but not on a payrise, LOTS of office politics and managers have obvious favorites who reap benefits (target relief, more internal visibility, less micro-mgmt, etc), complete lack of transparency & communication, team structure and product strategy changed twice the same year, HR come across like your manager's friend

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

look into your directors: it is sort of known on the salesfloor that most directors got their promotions by playing the right game not based on merit. Office politics is rife and it affects morale. Hire more people, divisions are under-sourced
