ProsGreat Training and work life balance, commission structure was good giving the opportunity for successful sales people to make big money. there was the opportunity to win great incentives

Spent two years working hard... Informa came along and destroyed it all

Senior Sales Executive (Former Employee) London, England (UK)

ProsGreat training provided by experienced managers

ConsNo room for creativity. would not listen to any feedback. would not appreciate feedback which was directly from clients. Closed any door to allow the sales team improve the product. Would not offer any flexibility with pricing because they believed every company is as large as FTSE 100. If anyone wanted to complain they would say "doors are open, you can leave".

In general, they mistreated everyone in the most politicaly correct manner.... I have never hated a company and its arrogant senior management as much as i did in my last few months there.

Advice to Senior Managementmanagers continue working for the interest of developing your people, senior management: get real and look at what you have done to the business....

Datamonitor Consumer: Fancy job titles but basic, quick sales focus

Account Manager (Former Employee) London, England (UK)

Prosrelaxed environment, micro-mgmt isn't excessive, flexible working conditions, good company benefits

Constargets unachievable given bad reputation of dm service & substandard products, as a result comm's low, there's budget to blow on team outings (read copious drinking) but not on a payrise, LOTS of office politics and managers have obvious favorites who reap benefits (target relief, more internal visibility, less micro-mgmt, etc), complete lack of transparency & communication, team structure and product strategy changed twice the same year, HR come across like your manager's friend

Advice to Senior Managementlook into your directors: it is sort of known on the salesfloor that most directors got their promotions by playing the right game not based on merit. Office politics is rife and it affects morale. Hire more people, divisions are under-sourced

Needs a vision that it used to have.

Great to get experience, but underpaid

Analyst (Former Employee) London, England (UK)

ProsGenerally more challenging roles than my class, and a great place to get dropped in at the deep end if you want to get experience.
Teams are small, and the intellectual capital in them tends to be high, so it is a great place to learn and develop at the start of your career.

ConsPoorly paid, and turnover is high, making the tone quite hard to deal with. As a general rule, everyone is tentatively looking for a new role and trying to leave.

Advice to Senior ManagementFocus on the people a bit more.
