    Pros

Great benefits and competitive salary. They pay overtime. There are some great consultants on the team. Beautiful Atlanta offices. Local delivery model.

    Cons

Corporate leadership is incapable of leading or growing this business. After almost 30 years, the company is only 1000 Consultants. The only real Consulting office was Atlanta and the whole leadership team just left, same thing happens in every office about every 5 years. Corporate Leadership drives the best leaders away and then the office collapses and gas to be rebuilt.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Corporate Management needs to retire and leave the company to the next generation of leaders.

    Pros

Overall the people at Daugherty are great. They are experienced professionals that know their craft. They employees themselves are great and the culture is very easy to assimilate into.

    Cons

The leadership in Atlanta has changed over drastically in the last 5 months. The 6 top leaders all left at the same time to start up their own consulting firm, Aspirent, and has left the corporate leadership reaching at straws. So far their idea of fixing and righting the ship is somewhat laughable. They are reverting right back to being a staff augmentation shop where we are bidding on anything and everything just so we can "Grow". This is not what they sold to me. It's obvious to a lot of people that they are looking for "yes" men (women) to step into leadership that they can control from St. Louis. But be wary as it looks like they are firing or forcing out anyone who would object or question anything.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Encourage people to speak their minds and bring some contrasting ideas to the table. This is how ideas and organizations grow. However, if you want people to just be cheerleaders for your brand and pretend everything is ok when we are hemorrhaging from multiples lines of service and losing business left and right to our competition than please do not do a thing.

    Pros

Decent Base Compensation, Good Benefits, and Overtime Pay
    Great Sales Pitch
Serious 'drinking culture' at the Atlanta office. (If you like to drink.)

    Cons

Although Daugherty claims that North Highland is their closest competitor in the Atlanta Area, most services they provide could be handled by a temp agency. They provide all staff aug work at their 4 major local clients - not project based as claimed - and will take any opportunity as long as it is billable. Encouraged by team management to bill clients for Daugherty internal work - in my opinion just one instance of integrity issues with client billing. I've observed that the most successful consultants at Daugherty are those that the clients are most unhappy with. Serious 'drinking culture' at the Atlanta office. Must enjoy networking at company socials to find your next opportunity.

    Pros

No travel. Good pay. Friendly people in the trenches.

    Cons

No way to move up the chain. While I was there, 2 people were promoted to Principal level (basically limited partners). These were the first 2 people to ever be promoted to that level in the Atlanta office (15 years or so). Both left shortly after their promotions.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Promote from within and stop trying to get a quick fix by injecting new management.

I have been working at Daugherty Business Solutions full-time (more than an year)

    Pros

Great benefits and competitive compensation. Management is concerned about keeping the consultants happy. They really attempt to create a community and overcome the challenges of all the employees being displaced.

    Cons

Not really true consulting. Most of the work in Atlanta is really just staff augmentation work.
Career path is not clear. The "part time" management structure doesn't really support career growth.
Lot of ad hoc busy work. Expectation to participate on multitude of committees on your own time, but not clear value to many of these activities.
Most training available only on employee's own time with little company support.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Better training opportunities. Rationalize the committees to ensure true value proposition. Consider a professional hr person.

    Pros

    Opulent Buckhead office
All of leadership (Directors, VP) from former Big 4 (heavy on E&Y), working toward getting the career mgmt process to be similar
Local work only, with new option for travel if desired
    Salary, health plan
Great for Custom Dev (.net, java) and PM work
    Paid OT

    Cons

Lead Recruiter, a great saleswoman, is a bit misleading on expectations
Many levels, expect to start at levels below your prior employer
If you are technical manager, you won't be told, but should expect to write code.
Reality is, large amount of 'staff aug' (they won't call it that) work.
BI LOS - limited enterprise level, thought leadership BI work. Mostly DM layer work or could be anything to do with moving data around (e.g. application integration)
Directors (most) are not 'though leaders', but account executives who can sell services.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Atlanta VP needs to filled by someone with more experience.

I have been working at Daugherty Business Solutions

    Pros

    Good salary
    Good Benefits
    No Travel
    Good culture

    Cons

Limited to no opportunity for overtime (10-15% was pitched during interview)
Vacation is horrible - 2 weeks for 17+ years of experience
Expenses are a joke - so many caveats make it almost impossible to get reimbursed (they make you subtract 20 additional miles for any reimbursement, just beacuse)
It is staff augmentation not management consulting
Bonus is a joke too - $17 per month of service

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Be clear on job interviews, tell people what it is and what it is not (it is not a consulting company), maybe it is for systems, but not a management consulting firm

Good place for project managers, not so great for technically minded folks (stable, but boring work)

I worked at Daugherty Business Solutions

    Pros

    * Good employment packages
    * Good work/life balance
    * Good leadership (except company has restructured too frequently)
    * Good place for Project Managers to work

    Cons

    * Atlanta branch is mostly a management consulting practice now
    * Very little technical work
    * Projects are, on the whole, not very exciting
    * While some gigs are project based, much of the projects I worked on leaned more towards staff-aug

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Focus less on management consulting, more on cutting edge project work.
