    Great Place to Work

    Senior Consultant (Current Employee)

ProsVery fair in opportunities for growth, and I feel like I have a decent amount of freedom regarding flexible work hours.

ConsToo many extra-curricular activities outside of work that get pushed on to the employees. This may be a pro for some people.

Advice to Senior ManagementThe level of competency of recent hires seems to be slipping.

    Mostly Positive

    Anonymous Employee (Current Employee)
    Minneapolis, MN

    ProsExcellent Health Plan
    Lots of fun socializing events
    Competent support staff
    Growing opportunities
New senior leadership providing direction and vision

ConsNew leadership is a big adjustment and has been a little rocky
Must negotiate HARD for adequate vacation time and still may not receive enough
Fast burnout at one major client
Pushing for too much growth too fast

Advice to Senior ManagementTry investing a little more in your new employees! Try taking them out to lunch during their first week or connecting with them in some way other than a handshake on your way out the door. Continue to hire adequate support staff so employees get timely assistance. Offer employees opportunities to take outside training/certifications more easily. Match industry standards for time off! Match industry standards for compensation for ALL levels of employees! Don't count on overtime hours being paid out to match compensation.

    Staff Aug Chop Shop

    Consultant (Current Employee)
    Minneapolis, MN

ProsGreat opportunites to network with other contractors

ConsThe Minneapolis office is very focused on adding head count, yet 90% of all new employees are sent to Express Scripts for staff aug assignments. Express Scripts is known as one of the biggest meat grinders in the market. On average, there is 30% turnover on a monthly basis. Management at the client sites is non-existent and team leads are verbally abusive.

Advice to Senior ManagementBe honest with potential employees that Daugherty is a staff aug firm that is trying to get into consulting. Spend more time managing your current employees instead of focusing all of your time on adding head count. Stop placing people in roles that are irrelevant to their past experience.

    Don't Do It!!!!

    Consultant (Former Employee)
    Minneapolis, MN

ProsHealth Benefits cannot be matched. Period.

    ConsHorrible Leadership
Presented as a consulting opportunities but in fact is staff aug
No value to work life balance - client demands 50+ hours/week, including expectations that you are on call
Only 2 main clients in MPLS, there are little to no opportunities outside of those clients
    Excessive turnover
Hostile client environment with no support from Daugherty

Advice to Senior ManagementGet some real leaders. You cannot take great IT people and force them into management positions. There is far to much focus on expanding the branch and little focus on the consultants on the ground and the damage you are service to the company brand.

Daugherty in Atlanta is a great place to work

    Program/Project Manager (Current Employee)
    Atlanta, GA

ProsExcellent salary, very good benefits, highly skilled employees, very active management team, growing quickly due to all the above.

Several large accounts in Atlanta that are extremely happy with the Daugherty team. Many new accounts that are small but growing. This means everyone is working locally with no air travel required.

Management is focused on keeping consultants happy and motivated.

ConsIt is easy to get stuck in the same account for longer than you may want. Although this may also be a positive for people that like stability.

Advice to Senior ManagementBe careful of growing to quickly. Continue hiring the very best.

    Great company to work for

    Consultant (Current Employee)
    Atlanta, GA

ProsVery energetic people. Lots of push to be part of the team. Growing fast. Strong reputation as quality consulting company in Atlanta.

ConsSometimes not so good about matching skill sets to client openings. Very flat organization, so don't expect to be promoted.

Advice to Senior ManagementLook for signs of people burning out.

    The Chicago Branch, think twice

    Senior Consultant (Former Employee)
    Oak Brook, IL

ProsCompetitive Salary, & very good Health Plan

ConsThink LONG and HARD about joining this company, specifically the Chicago branch. If you don't believe my review, check out the other ones. Has one positive thing been said about the Chicago branch? Like others have mentioned, they have only three clients and have been treading water for years. Branch leadership has to be the biggest joke in all my years of consulting. They have no interest in investing in their consultants. Its absolute staff augmentation, in the sense that either they can place you long term at one of their three clients, or you are out. It's that simple. So where is the value of being a member of a consulting company at this point? If you have the talent, you are better contracting directly and getting a better rate for yourself.

Advice to Senior ManagementEssentially, I would say only accept a position here if you have no other options. When the recruiters call you on the phone, they will try this dog and pony show sales pitch about a local only travel model, which is true, and about the only thing the company has going for it. Ask yourself this however, if you happy with your current career/role, and current travel is the only complaint, why not work with your current employer to see if they are open to more flexible options? Don't throw away a good current situation you have to work at a pointless staff aug company that does nothing for your resume. Use LinkedIN too and reach out to some current/former employees , if you don't believe these reviews.
